Picked For You — And a Good Laugh at Myself!

Ah, finally a chance to play with some new stamp sets from the Annual Catalog.  I knew the minute I saw this set that I had to have it.  Maybe it’s my teaching background, but I have always loved the association of apples and teachers!  So I made a card this afternoon, and upon examination later, I realized I’d made a big boo-boo!  First, here’s the stamp set called “Picked For You”:

Picked For You

If you look at the apple stamps, they are 3-step stamps, which creates a lot of texture, and gives you many options on how you want the apple to look.  Great sentiments!  Not just for teachers, either.

OKAY……..and……Here’s my card:

Picked For You - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

I seriously liked a lot of things about this card!  The apples were stamped in Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green!  The DARLING ribbon is new.  I love the colors……so have you guessed what I did wrong?

YES!!!  I put the STEMS on upside down!!  Hahahahaa!!  Ugh — and of course, I didn’t notice until the entire card was put together.  So guess what?  That’s the way they are going to be on this card!  No two apples have to be the same, right??

Picked For You Close - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

It just goes to show that cards don’t have to be perfect to be sent.  They’re handcrafted!!  Think of all the teacher gifts, thank you cards, and even fall apple treats that you can make!

Picked for You 2 - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

A wonderful stamp set that I’m going to use a lot!  And next time, I’ll stamp the stems correctly!  Anyway, the supplies I used for this card are below!

Pals July Blog Hop: A Pattern Party

2018-pbh-blueberrybushel

Welcome to the Pals July 2018 Blog Hop. We’re having a “Pattern Party.”  This month, our creations will feature our favorite Designer Series Papers and coordinating embellishments from the new annual catalog from Stampin’ Up!

You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers are on sale this month – Buy Three, Get One Free!  It’s a great time to stock up.  Every one of the beautiful sets contains high-quality, two-sided papers you can use in so many ways.  My card features the Petal Promenade Designer Series paper — in fact, I used two sides of one beautiful design!

Broadway Birthday - Rose Glimmer paper - Petal Pink Jewels - Rose metallic Thread - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin - Stampin' Up!

The background of the card is a marbleized pattern that creates a neutral, beautiful look of natural stone and is easy to build upon.  I then made a banner about 2 3/4″ wide, using the opposite side of the marble paper, a beautiful floral pattern, with a Soft Suede banner beneath that is 1/8″ larger.  You can make your banner as wide as you’d like, depending on how much of the DSP you want to show, and, of course, you can use any pattern you’d like — there are so many to choose from!

I then switched gears and used the WISH thinlit die from the Broadway Birthday Photopolymer Bundle to cut out two WISH sentiments — one in Soft Suede cardstock, and one on Rose Glimmer paper — so pretty and sparkly.  I used some all-purpose glue to attach them to the card front, offsetting them slightly.

Broadway Birthday - Close Up - Rose Glimmer paper - Petal Pink Jewels - Rose metallic Thread - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin - Stampin' Up!

I stamped the “Make A” sentiment from the bundle onto a scrap of the marbleized DSP, and then punched it out using the Duet Banner punch.  I LOVE punches — so quick and easy!  The banner is popped up with dimensionals.  I cut several strands of the Rose Metallic Thread and one strand of Nature’s Twine and made a bow, attaching with a glue dot.  I rather like the different textures and LOVE the sparkly metallic thread against the natural-looking twine!  Finally, I added two Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems.

Broadway Birthday - 2 - Rose Glimmer paper - Petal Pink Jewels - Rose metallic Thread - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin - Stampin' Up!.jpeg

This card is perfect for that flirty, feminine female birthday card — any age!  And I let the DSP do all the work.  Every pattern is useable and gorgeous!

Start July with a Bonus!

Wow, what a big week we have had!  We celebrated the 4th of July and our Fosston All-School Reunion!  I hope a good time was had by all! Lots of fun stuff happening at Stampin’ Up! as well.

You’ve heard about the sale on Designer Series Paper this month?  If you haven’t there’s more info below on the great July Sale.  I thought I’d create a card featuring some of my favorite paper — the Garden Impressions 6″ by 6″ DSP.  Take a look:

Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies - Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper - Varied Vases - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

There are actually two different designs used in this project from the Garden Impressions DSP.  Every single sheet of this set is so beautiful — and colors are just gorgeous in person!  I actually used one design for the butterfly itself, cutting it on the Big Shot with the Springtime Impressions Thinlits Dies.  Then used a pretty floral one for the background, along with Blueberry Bushel and Soft Sea Form cardstock.

The sentiment is from the Varied Vases stamp set, and I used another new product I’ve been very excited about:  the 2018-20 In-Color Embossing Powders.  The heat embossed sentiment adds a touch of class to any project!

Abstract Impressions Close Up - Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper - 2018-20 In-Color Designer Series Paper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin - Stampin' Up!

This Designer Paper is a keeper!  See the product list below to start shopping for any of the products needed to make this project.

Enjoy Life!

What a great thought, and what a great new Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up! in the new Annual Catalog!  Here’s a card I made with the “Enjoy Life” stamp set, found on page 58. By the way, do you need a new catalog?  I’d love to send you one!  Just email me at marya2hanson@gmail.com!

Enjoy Life - Delightfully Detailed Note Cards - Mint Macaron - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

Do you love the silhouette image?  I think the black ink over the soft Mint Macaron is so pretty!  This simple card starts with a Delightfully Detailed Note Card with matching envelope.  So easy, because the cards are already watercolored with Mint Macaron or Blackberry Bliss — no mess, no fuss!

Delightfully Detailed Note Cards

Because I wanted a full-sized A2 card, I cut the front off the notecard. I then used Memento Ink, which produces a sharp black image, to create my silhouette scene.  It was that easy.  Then I mounted the inked scene onto an 8 1/2 X 5 1/2″ card base scored at 4 1/4″,  of Very Vanilla.  I cut one more panel of Mint Macaron card stock at 5 1/4″ X 4″ and adhered to the Very Vanilla card base. I offset the inked panel, and then tied a piece of Mint Macaron Nature’s Twine around, forming some little knots just for fun.

Enjoy Life - Delightfully Detailed Note Cards - Mint Macaron - Faceted Dots - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Close Up

I added some Faceted Dots to the bush image, and I was done!  Soft and lovely!  This stamp set has some of the most beautiful sentiments, don’t you think?  Think of all the occasions for which you could send a card with these sayings.

Enjoy Life Stamp Set

Here are some more samples buy Stampin’ Up!  Aren’t they gorgeous?  I love the silhouette effect!  The one on the right is also created with the Delightfully Detailed Notecards — you cannot be without these!

Happy 4th of July!

I wanted to post something patriotic today in honor of the upcoming 4th of July holiday.  I opened up a new product, and immediately was inspired by the beautiful wavy texture of the Ruffled Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Detailed with Love - Enjoy Life - Ruffled Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Basic Rhinestones - Abstract Impressions Designer Series Paper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin

These special embossing folders create a deep impression into your cardstock.  I find if I spritz the paper lightly, it ‘takes’ the impression even better.  I started with a Thick Whisper White card base, and then cut a Real Red cardstock panel at 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″.  After spritzing,  I ran it through the Big Shot — the effect was so cool!  I cut the embossed panel at 3″ and adhered that piece to the top of the white card base, EXCEPT that before sticking it down completely, I took a 1″ X 5 1/2″ strip of the Blueberry-shaded Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper and affixed it underneath the top red embossed panel.  Over that, I took part of the red cardstock I had trimmed and put it back on the front of the card.  Although I didn’t measure, it is about 3/4″ or so!  That part is up to your ‘feel’ of how much blue you want to show!

Detailed with Love - Ruffled Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Tailored Punch - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Close Up

From there, I stamped the sentiment from the Detailed With Love stamp set in Blueberry Bushel ink on a Whisper White scrap and punched it out with the Tailored Tag Punch.  I put Basic Rhinestone Jewels where the little dots on the sentiment were already stamped to add some bling!  The fonts in this stamp set are so beautiful!

Detailed with Love Stamp Set

I popped the punched sentiment up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and added some Thick White Bakser’s Twine around the card.  I stamped what I think it is a fitting sentiment for the 4th of July inside the card:

Arise in the morning

I’m sure you’ll agree that the 4th of July is the perfect time to realize how lucky we are to live in such a great country!

Detailed with Love - Ruffled Dynamic Impressions Textured Embossing Folder - Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper - Tailored Tag Punch - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'
