A “CASE” of Botanical Prints

I’ve been having a great time working with the Botanical Prints Product Medley.  Click HERE for my earlier post of a project from this wonderful set of products. This product medley is unique because, although it is NOT a kit, it contains an array of products that all coordinate with each other, with a beautiful, rich palette of colors and fresh botanical designs.

Botanical Prints Medley - Rich Razzleberry - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

This card design is not mine!  It was on the Stampin’ Up Official Facebook page (which you should be sure to LIKE so you can see all their great posts!).  But that’s the beauty of Stampin’ Up!  They share so many beautiful ideas and designs, and encourage us to copy them, or as a place to start and create our own version.

Have you seen everything that’s included in this medley? It’s such a beautiful array!

Botanical Prints Medley

Yes, you get all of that, with ONE order number!  I loved this card from Stampin’ Up! so much, I wanted to re-create it almost element for element.  I started with a Whisper White card base, and then added a panel of black 1/4″ smaller.  I then cut another white panel and ran it through using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I love the effect!

Botanical Prints Medley - 2 - Rich Razzleberry - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

I then stamped some floral sprays using the stamp set in the medley, on a scrap piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock, and colored them with our Stampin’ Blends.  So fun!  I cut out the stitched circle with the Stitched Shapes Die.  I used a strip of paper from the DSP included in the medley, and added a panel of ribbon.  I tucked both under the white textured panel before adhering to the black.

I popped the colored floral circle onto the card using Dimensionals, and added a sentiment using one of the included punch-out labels – so easy!  The little golden bees are included as well, and created a great finishing touch!

A Simple Card and a Virtual Hello!

Bird Ballad Notecards - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

This has been quite a month, and I hope you are healthy and not feeling too anxious.  I am trying to combat my own stress (we’ve had huge changes to overcome at the high school where I work!) by looking for the silver lining as much as I can.  Many of us are getting extra time to craft, which is one of the best ways I have to relax and enjoy.  Extra time with family is precious in our busy lives and it’s been uplifting to see how our communities are coming together and helping each other.

Personally, I’m quite a homebody,  and don’t mind being here for longer periods of time.  However, as time goes on, “people who need people” will begin to feel isolated quickly. It’s the ideal time to make and send cards to friends and family who may not be getting out and having those important social interactions.  It’s amazing how ONE handmade card can make someone feel happy, special, and connected!

Above and below are some cards I made for the residents of our Assisted Living Center in my town:

Under My Umbrella - Notecards - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

Under My Umbrella 2 - Mary Hanson

Cards for Assisted Living

They’re clean and easy, but will hopefully brighten someone’s day!  It’s a great way to use up materials you already have.  With Sale-A-Bration ending soon, now is the perfect time to get some goodies from your wish list and stock up on crafting essentials to earn extra rewards.  There has been another batch of products Go HERE to see all the free items you can earn by spending increments of $50!  Remember, Sale-A-Bration ends March 31st!

Stay safe,

A Fresh Medley of Products

I had my eye on the Botanical Prints Product Medley for awhile before I pushed the old Order Button, and I’m so glad I did! I finally had time to play with the medley this last weekend.  SO fun and pretty!  Here’s a project I created:

Botanical Prints - Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends - Old Olive Stampin' Blends - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

The options with this medley are many!  Here’s what you get with the entire medley:

Botanical Prints Medley

The medley includes these exclusive products:
* Botanical Prints Cling Stamp Set—6 stamps; suggested clear blocks: c, d
* 48 sheets of 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Series Paper: 8 each of 6 double-sided designs
* 4 sheets of die-cut accents: 2 each of 2 designs
* 4 sheets 3-11/16″ x 5″ (9.4 x 12.7 cm) laser-cut overlays: 2 each of 2 designs
* Old Olive 1/4″ (6.4 mm) Twill Ribbon, 10 yards (9.1 m)
* 12 copper-colored metal bee embellishments, 1/2″ (1.3 cm) each
* 7-piece Botanical Prints Dies (use with a die-cutting & embossing machine)

So here’s how I made my project: I started with a card base of Daffodil Delight.  I cut an Old Olive panel at 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ and adhered it to the card base.  I then took a panel of the Designer Series Paper from the medley and colored it with my blends. Notice that the background of the paper is already colored — this time in Terracotta Tile — and then you can do whatever you want with the flowers and leaves:  leave them black and white, color them, whatever!

Botanical Prints Designer Series Paper - Up North Stampin' - Mary Hanson

I then cut three 1″ by 4″ strips of the DSP and popped them up with dimensionals onto the Old Olive panel.   I then added a bow from the beautiful ribbon that’s included in the Product Medley.  I stamped a sentiment from the included stamp set onto a Whisper White scrap, and punched it out using the Pretty label Punch.  I added a couple of pretty rhinestones, and the card was done.  So easy and so fresh.  I love, love this medley!  Shop below by clicking on any of the products!

As a high school teacher, I have become aware that a couple of my esteemed colleague-friends will be retiring this spring. Although I’m super excited for them to start a new phase of their lives, I’ll certainly miss working with them.  This extended circle fun fold card is for one of the soon-to-be retirees!

Witty-Cisms - Black - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

I learned of this card fold design from Too Cool Stamping’s Angie Leach. This card begins with a 9-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock, scored at the 2-1/4″ and 6-1/2″ marks.  I used one of the Stitched Shaped Circle Dies to make the circle hole in the card. Come in from the long side, line up the first score line down the center of the circle, then cut.

After the folding the card base on the score lines, I decorated the front of the card with different patterns of Pleased as Punch Designer Series Papers.  I love how they all coordinate with each other — very fun colors, too!  The top flap has a 4″ x 1″ strip.  The bottom flap has a 4″ x 2-3/4″ layer with a 4″ x 1/2″ strip across the bottom.  Have you ordered yours?  I have a feeling they’ll be selling out fast!

Pleased as Punch

I stamped the cute chinchilla stamp on a Whisper White card stock scrap with Memento Ink, and then punched out with the Starburst Punch. I cut an extra starburst in Bermuda Bay card stock, and mounted one on top of the other, a little offset.  I colored the shaded areas of the chinchilla with a Stampin’ Blend in Bermuda Bay.

Witty-cisms - Pleased as punch Designer Series Paper - Close Up - Stitched Shapes Dies - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

Seriously, this stamp set makes my heart happy!  So many occasions,  such fun sayings!

Witty Cisms stamp setI then added a 4″ X 4″ Whisper White layer onto the inside of the card, making sure not to get any Snail adhesive in the area  where the circle is cut out.  I stamped the retirement sentiment.

Witty-cisms - Inside - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

Finally, I cut out an oval Whisper White shape from the Stitched Shaped Dies, and one in Bermuda Bay as well, offsetting them.  I added Dimensionals on the bottom half of the circle and attached it to the bottom of the oval with the card closed.  I overlapped the top flap of the card just enough to keep it securely closed.  I added a couple of Rhinestone Jewels to add a finishing touch.  Lastly, I wrapped some Baker’s Twine and silver cording (from a Paper Pumpkin kit) and tied it in the front to add a bit of sparkle and bling!
