Bookbinder Cards from Stampin’ Up!

I had fun trying a new fun fold (to me!) that I saw on a post from Rachel Tessman at Stamp Your Heart Out. They are a fun twist on an easy card, but do add a bit of flare! I have included two cards here for you:

The two cards are prepared using the same measurements:

  • Basic White Cardstock: 8-1/2” x 5-1/2” scored parallel to short side at 4-1/4” and at 5”
  • Scrap for stamping and die-cutting sentiment piece
  • Gold Glimmer Paper or Champagne Foil paper (both retired) But you can use any specialty paper!
  • Designer series paper (Blackberry Beauty or Whimsy & Wonder): 4” x 5-1/2” cut parallel to long side in on the left side at ½”

The key to this design is to adhere the small scored section on the front flap of the card TO the card base. You then create a ‘bound’ effect. The DSP panels were simply adhered to the front, and then I added two layers of a sentiment panel from the Stitched So Sweetly dies using a couple of retired glimmer/foil papers. You can use whatever you’d like! Here is a view from the top:

I hope you enjoyed my versions of the Bookbinder Card. Give one a try — they are quite easy and quite add Click below at the bottom of this post to start shopping with the products I used to make this project.

Words of Cheer, Take Three!

This is my third post using the Words of Cheer stamp set and the Stampin’ Blends. In my set of three cards, each is treated a little differently as far as colors and layout. It was so fun to get my Stampin’ Blends out and just enjoy the act of coloring and shading with our beautiful stamps. Here’s my third card:

I used a base of Basic White cardstock, and then cut a panel from the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper at 5 1/4″ x 4 ” and adhered it to the front. I cut a piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock at 4 1/4″ by 2 3/4″ and then ran it through my Cut & Emboss Machine using the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder. I adhered that to the top part of the front panel. I used a 1″ x 4 1/4″ strip from the Be Dazzling Specialty DSP and adhered it to the front at the meeting of the two panels.

I then stamped a flower bouquet from the Words of Cheer stamp set on a scrap of Basic White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and used the Stampin’ Blends listed below to color in my bouquet. I then ran it through my Cut N’ Emboss machine using the Bark 3D embossing folder. The little bit of texture adds so much!

I stamped a sentiment from the Words of Cheer stamp set on a Basic White scrap of cardstock using the Evening Evergreen stamp pad. I snipped the ends of diagonally, and popped it onto the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I hope you enjoyed my THIRD version of the Words of Cheer Stamp Set! Click below at the bottom of this post to start shopping with the products I used to make this project. Check back tomorrow to see my third version of a card using my Blends and the Words of Cheer Stamp Set!

Words of Cheer, Take Two!

This is my second post using the Words of Cheer stamp set and the Stampin’ Blends. In my set of three cards, each is treated a little differently as far as colors and layout. It was so fun to get my Stampin’ Blends out and just enjoy the act of coloring and shading with our beautiful stamps. Here’s my second card:

I used a base of Basic White cardstock, and then cut a panel from the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Series Paper at 5 1/4″ x 4 ” and adhered it to the front.. I used another 1″ x 4 1/4″ strip from the Tidings of Christmas DSP and adhered it to the front as well.

I then stamped a flower bouquet from the Words of Cheer stamp set on a scrap of Basic White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and used the Stampin’ Blends listed below to color in my bouquet. I then fussy cut it and ran it through my Cut N Emboss machine using the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. The little bit of texture adds so much!

I cut out a Happy die in Flirty Flamingo and a piney background in Evening Evergreen card stock. I used the Holiday Rhinestones to create a little bling accent at the center of each flower. So easy and fun! Lastly, I stamped the HOLIDAY stamp directly onto the front of the card with Evening Evergreen ink.

Words of Cheer Set of Three!

The Stampin’ Pals group I belong to got some great blending tips from fellow Pal Stesha Bloodhart on our monthly Pals Facebook Live. So I decided to do some practicing on a new stamp set called Words of Cheer. In my set of three cards, each is treated a little differently as far as colors and layout. It was so fun to get my Stampin’ Blends out and just enjoy the act of coloring and shading with our beautiful stamps. Here’s my first card:

I used a base of Basic White cardstock, and then cut a panel from the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper at 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ to cover the front panel. I used another strip from the same DSP cut at 2″ X 5 1/2″ and adhered it to the front as well. I then stamped a flower bouquet from the Words of Cheer stamp set, and used the Stampin’ Blends listed below to color in my bouquet. I love the Stampin’ Blends for their endless possibilities. So fun to use!

I used the Red Rhinestone Jewels to create a little bling accent, and I popped the white panel onto the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. So easy and fun! I hope you enjoyed my first version of the Words of Cheer Stamp Set. Click below at the bottom of this post to start shopping with the products I used.

Scraps Have Never Looked So Beautiful!

No doubt you’ve seen the ‘scrappy strip’ technique that’s been all the rage in the paper crafting world. Well, I just had to give it a try, because I love the beautiful patterns in the Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Papers.

Here’s my card:

I got my inspiration from a fun video by Bruno and Kylie Bertucci: https://www.kyliebertucci.com/2020/03/brunos-scrappy-strip-technique-video.html AND Helen Read, who created a beautiful design of her own: http://allthingsstampy.blogspot.com/2021/09/scrappy-strip-technique-and-mosaic.html

It’s a simple 4-step technique.

  • 1. Cut a panel to fit your card (I make my 1/4″ smaller than my card front, so that’s 5 1/4″ by 4″.
  • 2. Prepare four pieces of cardstock or Designer Series Paper – I cut four six inch square pieces, or a quarter sheet of regular card stock.
  • 3. Cut these four panels into irregular strips, from 1/4″ to 1″ on one side, and at a slant or aigonal — you choose your look!
  • 4. Assemble these strips onto your panel and trim off the excess.
  • 5. Add your panel of scrappy strips to your card base, and you’re done!

I used a card base of Blackberry Bliss card stock cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4.” The sentiment panel is from the Scalloped Contours Dies, and the Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Sweet as a Peach Stamp Set.

It’s that simple! And that pretty! Think of all the cards you can create using our beautiful DSP! I hope you liked my project! All the products you need to create this yourself can be found at the end of this post.

Pals October Blog Hop: Fun Folds & 3D Projects!

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is Fantastic Fun Folds and 3D Projects. We really hope that you enjoy and will be inspired by them! As you hop from blog to blog, don’t forget to leave comments because we love hearing from you. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I love to bring a bottle of wine or cider to a holiday gathering, so just in time for the holidays, I have made some fun wine gift boxes. I’m sure you’ve seen samples of handmade wine boxes before, but I decided to make an updated version using current Stampin’ Up! products. They’re SO FUN to make! This one would be perfect to take as a Host Gift to a Thanksgiving dinner:

I got my inspiration from Susan Levasseur at https://wownolacreations.com/wine-bottle-cover-flourishing-phrases/, although there are tons of tutorials on the Internet.

To create the main part of the wine container, I took a 12″ x 12″ piece of Cinnamon Cider Card Stock, and cut it to 12″ x 11.″    I then did some scoring:

  • On the 12″ side score at 2″ and 10″
  • Turn 90 degrees and on the 11″ side score at 1 3/4″, 3 1/2″, 5 1/4″, 7″, 8 3/4″, 10 1/2″

I then cut a 9″ by 7 1/2″ panel of Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper. From there, I cut six strips — all at 1 1/2″ by 7 1/2″, keeping them in order so that when I assemble the wine container, I will have a continuous pattern, if my DSP pattern applies.

Fold and burnish all score lines with your bone folder. Trim the container as shown on the photos below. I measured in 5/8″ from each tab at the top, made a small pencil mark, and then cut at an angle to form wide triangles for ease of punching a hole for the ribbon.

Adhere the strips to the wine container cover. I used strips from the gorgeous fall designs of the Beauty of Tomorrow Designer Series Papers. Any of our foiled papers work really well to add extra richness! Here’s what mine looked like:

Punch 1/4″ holes in each of the shaped tabs at the top of the wine container. Glue or use Tear and Tape to secure the side tab so your wine bottle holder is round. Place the wine bottle inside to press down firmly to adhere strongly.  Add a circle of cardstock, either punched or cut from a die, to cover the flaps at the bottom, if you desire. With the wine bottle inside, string the ribbon and tie a bow. I created a gold shimmery accent using the Gold Shimmer Ribbon.

I created my tag using the Tailor Made Tags Dies and a small piece of Basic White Cardstock. I stamped a “Cheers” sentiment across the bottom, and then decorated with an element from the Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack, and a piece of Gold Shimmer Vellum cut from the large leaf die in the Beauty of Tomorrow Bundle. I added a couple of Gilded Gems, and that was it!

Here are a couple of other samples for holiday parties or dinners, or a cute Christmas gift!

I hope you enjoyed my project. All the products used to make the Blackberry Beauty Wine Holder can be found below! More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on November 10th. Our theme will be “Home for the Holidays” when our Design Team creates a project to celebrate the upcoming holidays. Until then, have fun in your craft space.
