Pals October Blog Hop: Fun Folds & 3D Projects!

I love to bring a bottle of wine or cider to a holiday gathering, so just in time for the holidays, I have made some fun wine gift boxes. I’m sure you’ve seen samples of handmade wine boxes before, but I decided to make an updated version using current Stampin’ Up! products. They’re SO FUN to make! This one would be perfect to take as a Host Gift to a Thanksgiving dinner:

I got my inspiration from Susan Levasseur at https://wownolacreations.com/wine-bottle-cover-flourishing-phrases/, although there are tons of tutorials on the Internet.

To create the main part of the wine container, I took a 12″ x 12″ piece of Cinnamon Cider Card Stock, and cut it to 12″ x 11.″    I then did some scoring:

• On the 12″ side score at 2″ and 10″
• Turn 90 degrees and on the 11″ side score at 1 3/4″, 3 1/2″, 5 1/4″, 7″, 8 3/4″, 10 1/2″

I then cut a 9″ by 7 1/2″ panel of Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper. From there, I cut six strips — all at 1 1/2″ by 7 1/2″, keeping them in order so that when I assemble the wine container, I will have a continuous pattern, if my DSP pattern applies.  

Fold and burnish all score lines with your bone folder. Trim the container as shown on the photos below. I measured in 5/8″ from each tab at the top, made a small pencil mark, and then cut at an angle to form wide triangles for ease of punching a hole for the ribbon.

Adhere the strips to the wine container cover. I used strips from the gorgeous fall designs of the Beauty of Tomorrow Designer Series Papers. Any of our foiled papers work really well to add extra richness! Here’s what mine looked like:

Punch 1/4″ holes in each of the shaped tabs at the top of the wine container. Glue or use Tear and Tape to secure the side tab so your wine bottle holder is round. Place the wine bottle inside to press down firmly to adhere strongly.  Add a circle of cardstock, either punched or cut from a die, to cover the flaps at the bottom, if you desire. With the wine bottle inside, string the ribbon and tie a bow. I created a gold shimmery accent using the Gold Shimmer Ribbon.

I created my tag using the Tailor Made Tags Dies and a small piece of Basic White Cardstock. I stamped a “Cheers” sentiment across the bottom, and then decorated with an element from the Blackberry Beauty Ephemera Pack, and a piece of Gold Shimmer Vellum cut from the large leaf die in the Beauty of Tomorrow Bundle. I added a couple of Gilded Gems, and that was it!
