Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is “CASE the Catalog.” Design Team Members chose a card from the new Annual Catalog and CASEd it with their own creative twist. We really hope that you are inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
For this blog theme, I decided to re-create a card found on p. 98 in the Annual Catalog. For the most part, I made it just like the card in the catalog, but in a different color palette.

I chose my color palette based on the beautiful hues of the new Abigail Rose Designer Series Papers: Petal Pink, Soft Succulent, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede. Below is the catalog photo that I cased found on p. 98. Isn’t it fun to see how a different color scheme can change the entire ‘feel’ of the card?

My project began with a Basic White card base of 6″ by 6″, scored at 3″, as specified in the project ‘recipes’ provided by Stampin’ Up! I then covered the front with a panel from the Abigail Rose DSP set. These papers are a combination of beautiful neutral shades that I love!

I took another panel of Basic White cardstock measuring 6″ by 3″ and stamped some leaves using the Color & Contour stamp set in Soft Succulent ink, stamping off some of the images, and keeping others darker. Be sure to anticipate where you will eventually add your flowers, and what part of the panel will be cut off diagonally. I then took a Water Painter, and applied some ink to fill in the leaves. I also created a spatter look by flicking the water painter against my finger with some Soft Succulent ink and water combined. I then took my Scalloped Contours dies and cut out a scalloped border diagonally along the border. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach it to the card front.

I stamped three flowers on scraps of Basic White Thick cardstock — one in Petal Pink full strength, one in a stamped-off Petal Pink, and one in Soft Suede ink. I fussy cut them out, and then used my Water Painters to add more color to the flowers. I added them to the card front, some with tape adhesive and at least one popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used a small rectangle of Soft Suede, and heat embossed the sentiment on it using white embossing powder, then cut the sentiment panel into a rectangle. I tucked it in and adhered it to the card. I added three Iridescent Rhinestones to finish off the card.

Our catalogs are such a GREAT source for ideas. I loved creating this fun slimline card in the same style as the new catalog! More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on July 13th. Our theme will be “Create Your Own Background” when our Design Team creates a background using any technique they wish, such as stencils, stamping, watercolor, embossing but not DSP.
Until then, have fun in your craft space!
