Pals Blog Hop: Art From the Heart

2020-Badge-FebWelcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here because this month’s theme is “Art from the Heart” and we think you’re going to love it! You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

When thinking of a concept for my project today, I decided to take the “Heart” theme literally, and create my own Conversation Hearts.

Heartfelt Bundle - Meant to Be Bundle - Birthday Dies - Wood Background - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

I used the small heart die from the Stitched Be Mine dies, found in the Annual Catalog, to cut hearts in Coastal Cabana, Mint Macaron, Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White, Pineapple Punch, Highland Heather, and Peekaboo Peach cardstock. I then stamped all kinds of small sentiments from various stamp sets to make them look like candy hearts!  This is a great set of dies for all kinds of ‘love’ occasions, including Valentine’s Day!

Stitched Be Mine Dies

I started with a Whisper White card base to which I added a Coastal Cabana panel. I then ran a panel of Soft Seafoam cardstock through my Big Shot using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhered that to the card base.  I cut a platter from the Birthday Dies in Sparkle Glimmer Paper, and placed in on the card.  Then I placed the hearts on the platter and to the side of it, using Snail adhesive and Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Finally, I stamped the Happy Valentine’s Day sentiment and punched it out with the retired Heart Punch, and placed it on the front of the card.  A few Heart Epoxy Droplets added the finishing touch!

Heartfelt Bundle - Meant to Be Bundle - Birthday Dies - Close Up - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

The inside of the card was stamped with a sentiment from the Heartfelt Bundle and a couple of extra hearts added in!

I hope you enjoyed my card that truly speaks of Art from the HEART!

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 11th, for our “Critter Card” blog hop when our Design Team showcase projects with animals, birds, butterflies or insects. Don’t miss the fun!

I Finally Found It!

Have you seen this beautiful FREE set? You can choose the “Happy Birthday to You” set for free when you spend $50 on any products of your choice from our new mini catalog or annual catalog.  I have finally found my go-to birthday card set.  I just love the look of the cake, and the beautiful “Happy Birthday” sentiment! (See Below!)

Happy Birthday to You - Best Dressed Designer Series Paper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

Thank you to Teri Pocock for this beautiful design — I totally CASED her use of vellum to create the birthday cake.  I started with a card base of Melon Mambo.  I added a panel from the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.  I stamped the birthday cake image onto a piece of vellum with Versamark after rubbing the vellum with the Embossing Buddy.  Fro there, I sprinkled White Emboss Powder on the image and heat embossed it.

I used Stampin’ Blends to color the BACK side of the vellum.  Sometimes, you may want to go over areas twice with your blends to get the deepness of color you are looking for. Use any colors you want to in order to match the Designer Series Paper you are using.  I cut out the vellum cake using a Rectangle Stitched Die, and made another matching panel in Whisper White, then mounted the vellum cake onto the Whisper White panel, being careful to use liquid glue in a few spare areas that wouldn’t show through too much.  I then put this piece on a panel of Melon Mambo that was 1/4″ larger than the vellum panel.  I finished with some retired embellishments, and I was done!  LOVED the process!

Happy Birthday to You - close - Best Dressed Designer Series Paper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

What a great set which everyone will find useful. Not only does it contain the great cake image which would be perfect for birthdays, anniversaries or weddings, but it also contains greetings! You get “Happy Birthday” and “Celebrate” and “To You.” Perfect for so many celebrations.

Happy Birthday To You Stamp Set

You can stamp, color with makers, alcohol markers, watercolor or even heat emboss. So many options and the Happy Birthday to You stamp set is all you need to create a perfect celebration/birthday card.

Happy Birthday to You - Mantel - Best Dressed Designer Series Paper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

All the items I used to make this card are shared below.  Remember, all you have to do is spend $50 in either the Annual Catalog or the new Spring Occasions Catalog, and this stamp set is yours FREE!  Shop with me and maybe this will become YOUR go-to birthday stamp set!

A Calendar for Katie…

I had a Saturday all to myself last weekend, and I had a blast in my craft room, making a calendar for my 28-year-old daughter for her desk.  Each month’s page is separate, and will go on a clipboard frame that fits the 5 x 7″ pages.

I got the calendar pages (blank at the top) from Taylored Expressions.  Go HERE to visit the site.  The quality of the product is beautiful, the card stock is a nice 100-lb. weight, and their customer service was great.  I will definitely buy from them again!

Calendar Template

Here is my calendar!  I constructed each page with some new, some retired, and some Paper Pumpkin kit pieces.  It was a blast to think ‘seasonally’ as I worked through each page.  I hope you have some time for creativity this week!

A GREAT Decision Five Years Ago!

Have you ever thought the Starter Kit sounded too good to be true? I felt that way five years ago when I was considering it! Like, there’s gotta be a catch, right? Well, it really is as good as it sounds and more than I ever imagined! Now,  I wish I had done it sooner! I am celebrating five years as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator this month!

Sale-A-Bration is the best time of the year to give all the demonstrator perks a test-drive! All throughout the year, the Starter Kit is the “ultimate bundle,” but it’s an even better deal now through March 31! Check out this short video about all the goodies you get with the $99 Starter Kit:

Here’s a little math for you… For $99 (plus applicable taxes), you will receive the following:

  • Up to $125 in product of your choice
  • Any stamp set of your choice (any price, any current catalog)
  • 48-sheet 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper sampler pack ($11.50 value)
  • Mini Paper Cutter ($26.50 value)
  • Standard Business Supplies Pack ($50 value)
  • A Free Paper Pumpkin Kit ($22 value)
  • Free Shipping (10% of order – up to $28 value)

If I’m doing the math right, that’s $308 in value for only $99! And the best part is all the perks that come with being a demonstrator after making the decision to buy the Starter Kit! My favorites are the 20-25% discount/commission, demonstrator pre-orders (we get to see everything early!), and because I am a member of the Stampin’ Pals, YOU get to be a PAL, a national community with others who are passionate about papercrafting!

I’d love for you to join the Up North Stampin’ team…and no worries, you don’t have to sell a thing — you can be a hobby demonstrator, in it for the fun and savings!

This New Stamp Set is “Music to MY Heart!”

Music From The Heart - Mossy Meadow - Copper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

It’s the one I have been waiting for!  “Music From The Heart” is a new stamp set found in the Spring Mini Catalog, and it speaks to me.  Music has always been an important part of my life, so this set was naturally one of the first I ordered.  Take a look at all the pretty sentiments and modern drawings:

Music from the Heart Stamp Set

The images lend themselves to many occasions — have some fun with them.

I used a Mossy Meadow card base, and a background panel from the Pressed Petals  Designer Series Papers.  On a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock, I stamped the piano images, a heart note, and the sentiment using Mossy Meadow ink.  I tore the edges of the sentiment panel.

I then cut a strip of glimmer paper from the retired Joyous Noel glimmer papers — I loved the copper look against the Mossy Meadow card stock.  I finished the card by adding a few assorted sequins.  An easy and fun card using a brand new set that speaks to the HEART!
