Pals Blog Hop: My Favorite Holiday!

Welcome to the Pals September 2017 Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month our theme is “My Favorite Holiday.” Sit back and enjoy the view while the Pals treat you with projects for the upcoming Autumn and Winter holidays.

Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along. It really didn’t take very long for me to decide what holiday I would feature in this blog. The Christmas holidays have always been special to me: family get-togethers, a few days off from teaching to be home with the people most dear to me.

This card features a beautiful Christmas tree from a new stamp set called “Season Like Christmas.” The tree is actually a three-step stamp. The larger base stamp was stamped in Old Olive ink. Over that, I put a darker accent layer of Tranquil Tide. The last layer was created to look like red Christmas ornaments or lights. Here’s what I did: I stamped first with Versamark, and then stamped a second layer in Real Red. I sprinkled a mixture of clear embossing powder and Dazzling Diamonds glitter over, and tapped off the excess, then heat embossed it. The result was shiny and sparkly red tree decorations!

I cut the tree out with an oval framelit from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies, and then cut a coordinating scalloped oval in the same size to offset the white oval.

The paper layers included a base of Whisper White cardstock and then a 4″ by 5 1/4″ layer of Old Olive. Finally I added a layer from the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Papers. I love them all – look at the beautiful and timeless Old Olive, black, and white patterns.

The banners across the bottom of card were created with one of my favorite staples — the Triple Banner Punch. The black and white plaid creates The sentiment is from the “Season Like Christmas” stamp set as well. I love all the sentiments from this set!

It’s Half Full, For Sure!

Today I’m sharing a couple of cards that I’ve been waiting to create, with a new stamp set I couldn’t wait to share! The “Half Full” stamp set has a wide appeal. I have lots of friends who enjoy an occasional glass of wine, and even if you’re not a wine drinker yourself, it’s easy to see the appeal in these stamps. What’s not to like with these fun images and even better, the wonderful sentiments about wine and friendship? Here are two using the same tag-like sentiment inked in black and cut out by hand:

I stamped some leaves in Lemon Lime Twist with the second leaf layer stamped in Old Olive. I punched those out with the Leaf Punch, along with some leaves punched in Gold Foil paper. I layered the card over a panel of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.

Look at the other fun sentiments and wine stamps in this set, and notice how it’s going to go RIGHT into Christmas!

Each card was built using banners made with the Triple Banner Punch. The second card uses three banners to offset the sentiment. The beautiful leaf in the upper right corner was created used my Big Shot and the leaf thinlit from the Colorful Seasons bundle in gold foil paper.

Painted Harvest Mini Boxes

The new Mini Pizza Boxes in the 2017 Holiday Catalog are going to be a year-round staple. I designed these four boxes for an upcoming class. (More about the class later!) Mini Pizza Boxes: OH So Fun!

Here is my first project using the new Mini Pizza Boxes, found in the 2017 Holiday Catalog, open for ordering starting September 1. Is your Wish List ready??

Stampin' Up! - Pizza Box - Butterfly Thinlits - Label Me Pretty - Leaf Punch - Ideas - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampinup

I started by creating a bellyband using a 2″ strip of Designer Series Paper from the “Naturally Eclectic” Designer Series Papers. I attached that around the box, and then built my butterfly scene. I used a Lemon Lime Twist butterfly cut from the Butterflies Thinlits Dies. I created a label using the Label Me Pretty Stamp set and Punch in Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist Inks.

The leaves are in Tranquil Tide, stamped with Tranquil Tide Ink from the GORGEOUS Painted Harvest Bundle, which includes the absolutely awesome Leaf Punch. I stamped the leaves and then punched them out. Can you say, “I’ll be using these every day?”

The project is finished with a little rhinestone. So easy and fun!! Let’s talk about the Mini Pizza Boxes! They are food safe — perfect for a cookie or treat, a gift card, or 3″ by 3″ notecards, which is what I did. I created four notecards and envelopes to go inside. Pals August Blog Hop: Cut It Out!

Welcome to the August 2017 Pals Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month we’re going to “Cut It Out.” Participants will feature projects with “cuts” from punches, dies, Framelits, Edgelits, or Thinlits.

Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

For this tag card, I started with a Shimmery White Card Stock base and then a layer of Lemon Lime Twist and a layer of Berry Burst cardstock upon which I built my tag. I used the Beautiful Bouquet Photopolymer Bundle to create a small bouquet using the ink colors listed below in the Supply List. There’s no wrong answer — you create a bouquet using the flowers and colors that you’re in the mood for! After stamping the flowers, I cut out the various shapes using the thinlits from the bundle. I cut a two-inch strip of Shimmery White Card Stock to create the tag base. I punched the top and bottom with the Tag Topper and Triple Banner punch. I stamped some stems with Lemon Lime Twist ink, and then mounted the flowers — some with SNAIL adhesive, and some bumped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to create some visual variety. So fun!

The new Embossing Paste is a MUST-HAVE! I mixed a small amount of the paste (two drops or so?) with Berry Burst Re-inker to create a monochromatic but textured background. It is so fun to use the Pattern Party Decorative Masks — this time I chose the diamond-shaped trellis. Doesn’t it add excitement to the background? I like the fact that not every diamond is filled in uniformly — rather eclectic!

I used the Triple Banner Punch again to create a small banner for the sentiment, and made an identical banner with one of the lovely wooden-textured pieces from the Wood Textures DSP pack.

I stamped the “Happy Birthday” sentiment, but honestly, this stamp set has SO many beautiful sentiments, you could create this card for any number of occasions, and it would be just as lovely!

I added a couple of embellishments to finish off the card. YES, that’s glitter!

I used the Fine-Tip glue to place some glue lines, and then sprinkled the Dazzling Diamonds glitter on top. Be sure to carefully brush off the excess back into your container if you want the lines on the flowers to be more defined. A touch of Lemon Lime ribbon at the top of the tag — along with a quick bow from some baker’s twine I had in my treasure box — and a Glitter Enamel Dot finished things off nicely! There you have it — a fresh, summery bouquet to wish your loved one or friend a beautiful day!

A Whole Lot of Lovely!

I combined two beautiful products from the new Annual Catalog to create this card! This is an example of letting the Designer Series Paper do ALLLLLL the talking! Whole Lot of Lovely Friends Mary Hanson Up North Stampin'

This background paper, mounted on a Basic Black card base, is from the “Whole Lot of Lovely” Designer Series Paper set (#144110 $11.00). Each design in this set is indeed lovelier than the last!

I love the large sentiments in the stamp set I used, called “Lovely Friends,” (#143763, $27.00), don’t you? They really speak for themselves on the card!

I used So Saffron and Soft Sky inks, along with Basic Black to create the center part of the card. The three-step flowers are super fun — try them yourself! The embellishments I used were the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon (#141487, #7.00) and the new Mini Sequin trim in Black (#144259, $6.00). The little sequins are really beautiful in person, and add a little sparkle!

It’s Farmer’s Market Time!

I created these tags for a relative of ours who sells delicious homemade goodies at our local Farmer’s Market during the summer.

I just love the colors and the beautiful sentiment that will hopefully reflect the pride she feels when selling her wares. The sentiments were made using the Label Me Pretty bundle, (#145305, $31.50) and guess what? YES, it involves a punch!

I used Cameo Coral ink to stamp the KITCHEN image onto Whisper White paper. I punched it with the awesome Pretty Label punch. I used the new Starburst Punch (#143717, $18.00) (LOVE) and Pacific Point cardstock to make the starburst. I mounted the KITCHEN sentiment to the to the the starburst.

To create the back piece of the tag, I used a 2″ by 5″ strip of Designer Series paper from last year’s Annual Catalog, but any beautiful design will do, depending on the effect you’re looking for! I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch (#133324, $23.00) to create the tag, and then used the Triple Banner Punch to create the banner effect on the tag.

The tag was finished off with a small knot of Lemon Lime Twist 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon (#144135, $7.00). LOVE this color! Lemon Lime twist ribbon

A Garden Trellis Background

What better time than summer to create a background of a garden trellis with Stampin’ Up!’s new Garden Trellis Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (#143741, $7.50)? Jar of Love Garden Trellis Textured Impressions Mary Hanson Stampin' Up! Up North Stampin'

The beautiful embossed background was created using the embossing folder and my Big Shot. So easy!

The Jar of Love stamp set (#141587, $27.00). and Everyday Jars Framelits Dies (#141490, $33.00) created the fun bouquet using Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, and Sweet Sugarplum inks.

Notice the two-step stamping process where the background of the flowers were stamped off once and the details of the flowers were stamped in full strength ink. The jar was stamped using the new Fresh Fig ink pad, one of the 2017-19 In Colors.

I popped some gold foil leaves and gold sequins amongst the flowers, just for fun! The corrugated oval and the oval greeting shape are from the Coffee Cafe Bundle!

A Quick Summer Party Popper!

One of my favorite new In-Colors 2017-19 is Lemon Lime Twist. What a fun and summery shade!

The Sentiment is punched out with the Pretty Label Punch (#143715, $18.00) and its coordinating greeting from Label Me Pretty Clear Mount Stamp Set (#143861, $17.00).

I added a little embellishment on the label with the a green-tinted Glitter Enamel Dot (#144200, $7.00). Love these — they’re my favorite embellishment!

Another card using the new Embossing Paste from Stampin’ Up! The Embossing Paste from Stampin’ Up! is to die for! If you haven’t ordered it, do so! I used the diamond pattern from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks (#144103, $6.00) and the Embossing Paste (#141979, $8.00).

I built a bouquet of flowers using the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set (#143666, $27.00) and the the Bouquet Bunch Framelits (#143659, $30.00). I used the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits (#142749, #31.00) to create a beautiful dragonfly that sits atop this bouquet.

The card base if Dapper Denim, and the bouquet is built using Calypso Coral, Peekaboo Peach, and So Saffron, and Tranquil Tide.
