Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! While the COVID 19 pandemic is adding stress to our lives, we Pals hope this blog hop will help to lift your spirits. Let us inspire you to take a creative break and relax for a little while. This month our theme is “Special Occasions,” where we have made a project for just about any occasion you can think of! You’ll find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
As a teacher, I always think of Spring as the time of GRADUATION, which is my featured special occasion today! With all the distance learning in place, our school is scrambling to come up with an alternate commencement event for our seniors. I do feel bad that all of their dreams about attending graduation have been put on hold. Regardless, I will have several graduation cards to create for some special students.
I wanted to create a pretty, feminine card that could be used for a high school or even a college graduation. This card uses a base of Pretty Peacock with a couple of strips of Petal Pink cardstock added to the border for some visual variety. Over the base, I added a panel of the lovely Lily Pad Designer Series Paper, now gone with Sale-A-Bration. I really wanted to use up the little I had left, and these rich colors are perfect for the young lady for whom I made this card.
I used the Perennial Essence Vellum Cardstock in Petal Pink to cut out a swirl from the die in the Peaceful Moments Bundle. This bundle has become my go-to for so many occasions, and is one of the most popular in our January-June Catalog:
The graduation cap is made from two punches, the Tailored Tag Punch and the Balloon Bouquet punch. I got the design of the Pretty Peacock Kirsteen Gill of Creatin’ with Kirsteen. This is her illustration of how to make one…so clever, and I never would have thought of it!
I popped the cap onto the vellum with Dimensionals, but not before I tucked a Dressed Up Tassel behind the cap with a couple of glue dots so the ring would not show very much. I think it worked, do you? And I loved that it coordinated with the other Petal Pink accents!
I stamped the “Congratulations” sentiment from the Peaceful Moments Bundle using Pretty Peacock ink onto a scrap of Petal Pink paper. I cut it out one of the sentiment dies, and used Dimensionals on it as well. I added some Enamel Dots, and I was done!
More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 13th, when we will say “Goodbye to January Mini and 2019 Annual Catalog and/or Hello to 2020 Annual Catalog.” The Design Team will showcase their favorites from the retiring catalogs or new products from the new catalog. Don’t miss the fun! And, until then, please stay safe.

I’ve been having a great time working with the Botanical Prints Product Medley. Click HERE for my earlier post of a project from this wonderful set of products. This product medley is unique because, although it is NOT a kit, it contains an array of products that all coordinate with each other, with a beautiful, rich palette of colors and fresh botanical designs.
This card design is not mine! It was on the Stampin’ Up Official Facebook page (which you should be sure to LIKE so you can see all their great posts!). But that’s the beauty of Stampin’ Up! They share so many beautiful ideas and designs, and encourage us to copy them, or as a place to start and create our own version.
Have you seen everything that’s included in this medley? It’s such a beautiful array!
Yes, you get all of that, with ONE order number! I loved this card from Stampin’ Up! so much, I wanted to re-create it almost element for element. I started with a Whisper White card base, and then added a panel of black 1/4″ smaller. I then cut another white panel and ran it through using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I love the effect!
I then stamped some floral sprays using the stamp set in the medley, on a scrap piece of Whisper White Thick Cardstock, and colored them with our Stampin’ Blends. So fun! I cut out the stitched circle with the Stitched Shapes Die. I used a strip of paper from the DSP included in the medley, and added a panel of ribbon. I tucked both under the white textured panel before adhering to the black.
I popped the colored floral circle onto the card using Dimensionals, and added a sentiment using one of the included punch-out labels – so easy! The little golden bees are included as well, and created a great finishing touch!
I hope you are finding JOY these days. Stay safe, and spend some time for you. Remember, buying this Product Medley will early you a FREE PRODUCT through Sale-A-Bration, but only through March 31! The Product List is found below!
This has been quite a month, and I hope you are healthy and not feeling too anxious. I am trying to combat my own stress (we’ve had huge changes to overcome at the high school where I work!) by looking for the silver lining as much as I can. Many of us are getting extra time to craft, which is one of the best ways I have to relax and enjoy. Extra time with family is precious in our busy lives and it’s been uplifting to see how our communities are coming together and helping each other.
Personally, I’m quite a homebody, and don’t mind being here for longer periods of time. However, as time goes on, “people who need people” will begin to feel isolated quickly. It’s the ideal time to make and send cards to friends and family who may not be getting out and having those important social interactions. It’s amazing how ONE handmade card can make someone feel happy, special, and connected!
Above and below are some cards I made for the residents of our Assisted Living Center in my town:
They’re clean and easy, but will hopefully brighten someone’s day! It’s a great way to use up materials you already have. With Sale-A-Bration ending soon, now is the perfect time to get some goodies from your wish list and stock up on crafting essentials to earn extra rewards. There has been another batch of products Go HERE to see all the free items you can earn by spending increments of $50! Remember, Sale-A-Bration ends March 31st!
I had my eye on the Botanical Prints Product Medley for awhile before I pushed the old Order Button, and I’m so glad I did! I finally had time to play with the medley this last weekend. SO fun and pretty! Here’s a project I created:
The options with this medley are many! Here’s what you get with the entire medley:
The medley includes these exclusive products:
* Botanical Prints Cling Stamp Set—6 stamps; suggested clear blocks: c, d
* 48 sheets of 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Series Paper: 8 each of 6 double-sided designs
* 4 sheets of die-cut accents: 2 each of 2 designs
* 4 sheets 3-11/16″ x 5″ (9.4 x 12.7 cm) laser-cut overlays: 2 each of 2 designs
* Old Olive 1/4″ (6.4 mm) Twill Ribbon, 10 yards (9.1 m)
* 12 copper-colored metal bee embellishments, 1/2″ (1.3 cm) each
* 7-piece Botanical Prints Dies (use with a die-cutting & embossing machine)
So here’s how I made my project: I started with a card base of Daffodil Delight. I cut an Old Olive panel at 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ and adhered it to the card base. I then took a panel of the Designer Series Paper from the medley and colored it with my blends. Notice that the background of the paper is already colored — this time in Terracotta Tile — and then you can do whatever you want with the flowers and leaves: leave them black and white, color them, whatever!
I then cut three 1″ by 4″ strips of the DSP and popped them up with dimensionals onto the Old Olive panel. I then added a bow from the beautiful ribbon that’s included in the Product Medley. I stamped a sentiment from the included stamp set onto a Whisper White scrap, and punched it out using the Pretty label Punch. I added a couple of pretty rhinestones, and the card was done. So easy and so fresh. I love, love this medley! Shop below by clicking on any of the products!
Don’t forget that you have a few more days before Sale-A-Bration is over. Buying this product medley will earn you a free product! There are so many beautiful things to choose from! Go HERE to see all the options! And hurry! Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31!

Although I’m still working at my high school, I am determined to use my at-home time to do things for me and my family. I used to spend a lot of time at home working, but now I am trying to compartmentalize a little more, in order to keep my stress level down. CRAFTING does that for me! How about you?
