Cows and Poppies: An Udderly Fabulous Combination!

If you are looking for a cute and whimsical stamp set for many different occasions, Stampin’ Up’s “Over the Moon” is Udderly Fantastic!  (Get it?) Take a look at a card I just made, and then I’ll tell you about the special person I made it for!

Over the Moon - -Peaceul Poppies - Wittycisms - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

I made this birthday card for a lovely lady who is our neighbor.  She keeps a beautiful little farm, and milks 25 head of cows all by herself!  She takes beautiful photos of her beloved cows and farm, and shares them on social media.  I just admire her so much!

These darling cows couldn’t be more fun to work with.  The Stampin’ Up! artists nailed the combination of fun and whimsical with sentiments that really work!

Over the moon cling set

How can anyone resist?  They lend themselves to a little coloring, or a lot of coloring, and can be stamped right on the front of the card, or popped up in a diecut shape!  Here are a couple more examples from Stampin’ Up!

Cow 1

Cow 2

The cutest!  For my project, I used Poppy Parade cardstock — a color I love, such a vibrant bright red!  I stamped the cute cow using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and used some blends to color in a few spots.  The Peaceful Poppies elements are wonderful. If you haven’t gotten them, do so!  They have all kinds of punched-out poppies, pre-colored, along with some punch-able watercolor poppy patterns that you can color yourself, some cute black embossed accents, and some pretty vellum poppies. GET THEM!

Peaceful Poppies elements

I also stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Witticisms stamp set on a scrap of white, and cut out with one of the Stitched So Sweetly Dies — love them! I popped up the two white shaped cutouts after throwing a little ribbon behind my cute cow.  I used one of the Peaceful Poppies elements to add to the sentiment, and then I added some black rhinestones, and done!

Beauty in Diagonals!

I had so much fun with a card design that I saw on a blog by Lisa Curcio.  Even though I used a retired sentiment from the “Incredible Like You” stamp set, you can see how any sentiment would work beautifully.  I love the look of the diagonal papers, and it’s so easy!  Here are three different looks I did:

Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper - Incredible Like You - Peaceful Poppies Elements - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

The card above uses the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Papers.  Start with a card base of 4 1/4″ by 11″, scored at 5 1/2″.  Take a panel of Designer Series Paper of which you want to use BOTH sides.  Cut it at 3 1/2″ by 4 1/4″.  Cut the paper diagonally from corner to corner.  Fit one panel into the bottom corner of the card, making sure the 4 1/4″ side fits right across the bottom.  FLIP the other triangle, and fit it across the other side of the bottom.  Here are a couple of other takes on the card:

Best Dressed Designer Series Paper - Incredible Like You - Petal Pink - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

This card uses the Best Dressed Designer Series Papers.

Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Papers 2 - Peaceful Poppies Elements - Incredible You - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

Here’s one with the Poppies Papers again.  Once you get the card built, take flowers that coordinate and cascade them down the side of the left diagonal.  Embellish, and you’re done!  Here is the link to Lisa Curcio’s blog where she has a video that explains with visuals.  Below are the products I used to make these cards.

More Projects From Stampin’ Up!’s Share the Sunshine Campaign!

Hello, Friends!

Covid 2

As I mentioned in my last post, in response to the Covid-19 Outbreak, Stampin’ Up!’ has developed a 15-page PDF download called SHARE SUNSHINE with a mix of clever and oh-so-sweet sentiments and images. Some are funny and some are packed with heart – and 100% of the proceeds are being donated to charity. If you have access to a color printer, then you can download the PDF and make cards for projects for all the important people in your life, and those who are literally ‘in the trenches,’ working to make our world safer for us.  Here’s yesterday’s post with some other projects.

Some more projects I made with this download:

Share Sunshine - Let's Roll With It - 2018-2020 In Colors - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'Ornate Gardens Designer Series Paper - Share Sunshine - Thank You - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'Share Sunshine PDF - Umbrella Punch - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'Share Sunshine - Toilet Paper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin!

HERE is the LINK for you to instantly download your own!  I bought the download, (remember 100% or the proceeds go to charity) on Whisper White cardstock, and then used dies and punches to cut out the sentiments and make some fun projects.  Here are some cards I made with the Share Sunshine PDF download. Note the sentiments in each one, because they are all from the download:

Aren’t they fun? Go HERE if you want to download your own and instantly print out!  The Designer papers I used are listed below — I love them all, by the way!  Important:  100% OF THE  PROCEEDS FROM THIS BUNDLE GO TO ONE OF TWO CHARITIES SPECIFIED ON THE ORDERING PAGE.  THERE IS NO DEMONSTRATOR COMMISSION — SIMPLY A WONDERFUL WAY THAT STAMPIN’ UP! IS GIVING BACK.

Birds and Botanical Suites for a Pal!

I’m sending this card to a Stampin’ Pal of mine who needs a pick-me-up.  I love the Bird Ballad Suite, how easy it is to color these fun birds!

Botanical Prints Medley - Bird Ballad Suite - Music From the Heart - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

The card base is in Pretty Peacock, and then I used a laser cut panel from the Botanical Prints Medley.  I LOVE the whole medley, and you get a ton of stuff!

Botanical Prints Medley

I stamped a bird pattern from the Birds of a Feather stamp set in Memento Black Ink.  I then used Stampin’ Up!’s Stampin’ Blends Markers to color in my little bird scene. You can use any colors you want to.  I cut it out with the circle die in the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.

Then:  I used a sentiment banner and some baker’s twine that were left over from a Paper Pumpkin Kit.  That’s the wonderful thing about the kits — there are always fun little items left to use on a different project!

Botanical Prints Medley - Close - Bird Ballad Suite - Music From the Heart - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' copy

I hope my card brings a little joy to my Pal.  Shop below for any of these great products!  Take care of yourselves, friends, and be safe!

“Scrub” Cards for Abby!

Our daughter Abby is working as a phlebotomist at an area health system.  I wanted to make these cards for her to give to her co-workers…maybe with a treat, as a little pick-me-up! Aren’t they fun?  The 3 x 3″ notecards and envelopes are from Stampin’ Up! — the Best Dressed Notecards and Envelopes.

Scrubs - Something for Baby - Varied Vases - Best Dressed Notecards - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

The pattern for the ‘scrubs’ came from the stamp set called “Something for Baby” with some modifications.  The baby onesie became a scrub with a v-neck!  My inspiration came from a card by Peggy Parenteau that I found on Facebook.  Here it is:

Scrub from something for baby

I love the way this card fits so beautifully with the thank-you sentiment!

The Best Dressed Note Cards and Envelopes are so cute, with a little wash of color on each.
