Happy Wedding Day – Something Old and Something New!

When creating a custom wedding card, the best part of the process is deciding on the ‘style’ of the couple you’re celebrating.  The groom for the wedding today is the son of a lifelong friend, so I knew I wanted it to be something special.

Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper - Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards & Tin - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

I used a card base from a new product coming out in the Annual Catalog, June 4.  They’re called the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards and Tin.  You get 12 laser-cut cards and beautiful envelopes.

Tin

You open up the inside to put in the color of cardstock you want, then simply adhere with glue.  Super pretty in Very Vanilla!!

The larger sentiment (from a retired SU! stamp set called “Big News,” along with the beautiful laser cut paper speaks for itself on the front.  To finish the inside of the card, I popped up two butterflies from the Botanical Butterflies Designer Series Papers.  The punch makes it so easy!  Here’s the bundle, available now!

These papers are so beautiful!

The Bird Ballad Suite, coming out soon in the new catalog, is going to be an instant hit.  I can’t wait to show you more products from it!  Have a great weekend!

Some Retiring, Some Returning, and a Sneak Peek!

Today I’d love to show you a card made with some GREAT retiring products, some FABULOUS returning product, AND a sneak peek at a new stamp set coming out June 4 in the new Annual Catalog.

Genuine Gems - Botanical Butterflies Designer Series Paper - Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

Genuine Gems - Botanical Butterflies Designer Series Paper - Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper - Grapefruit Grove - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

There’s no doubt that the Butterfly Gala punch is going to be around for a long time.  In combination with the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper, it’s a snap to create cards super quick.  You simply punch out the beautiful butterflies on the paper, and BAM — you have the start of a lovely card!  The Gingham Gala cardstock is retiring, and will be greatly missed by a lot of crafters.  Gingham is so ON TREND!  I used Grapefruit Grove and Balmy Blue to make my cards, along with the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder.

The sentiment is from a new stamp set.  Presenting “Genuine Gems” from the 2019-20 Annual Catalog, coming out in June:

Genuine Gems

A great message, don’t you think?  I love them all in this sentiment-only set!  Below are the products I used for these cards.  Stay tuned for June 4 when we can all get the great new products in the Annual Catalog!

I Love a Great Punch!

When it comes to creating cards, I LOVE the quick and easy way, and that includes a good punch! The Cake Builder Punch and Piece of Cake bundle are back in stock, AND returning in the New Annual Catalog.   BUT — you can Save 10% on the Cake Builder Punch and coordinating Piece of Cake stamp set when you purchase them as a bundle now, because they will not be bundled in the new catalog.

Cake punch

Another advantage?  Take this fun set, add new Designer Series papers and new birthday sentiments coming out in the New Annual Catalog, and you’ve got even more options.

Here is one thing I love to do!  I love to take a photo from the catalog, and then adapt it to what I make myself!  it’s called CASEING (Copy And Share Everything!), and our catalogs are full of inspiration for us to use!

The card above on the left — how fun!  Below are the ingredients and other info:

Page 18: Occasions Catalog

Stamps: Piece of Cake

Paper: Coastal Cabana, Powder Pink, and Whisper White  Cardstock; Sweet Shop DSP

Ink/Coloring Tools: Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana,  Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch, and Stazon Ink Pads; Clear Wink of Stella, Glimmer Brush; Blender Pen

Accessories: Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins

Adhesives: Dimensionals, Mini-Glue Dots, and SNAIL

Tools: Cake Builder & Circle Punches; Striped

Textured Impressions Embossing Folder:  Scallops

Non-SU products: Sewing Machine

Technique: Use Blender Pen to add ink to image. Use Wink of Stella to add some sparkle to lollipops.

Here’s the trick:  Don’t have the same Designer Series Paper?  Just switch it to one you DO have!  If you don’t have the exact inkpads, then just use other colors that you like together. If you don’t have the same Embossing Folder (TIEF), use any — no rules!  I have never used a sewing machine to stitch across a card but I know some of you are excellent seamstresses – try it!!  How fun!

Healing Hugs: So Many Need One!

Hello, Fellow Stampers, and Happy Monday!!

I’m featuring a beautiful stamp set today called “Healing Hugs” that is indeed returning in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  Aren’t you glad this wonderful set is back?  SO many people need a “hug” in the form of a card — make a commitment to send out even a card or two a week.  You CAN and WILL make a difference in someone’s life by sending them a HUG!

Healing Hugs - Coastal Cabana - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

I created a Coastal Cabana rectangle and then a smaller Whisper White rectangle from the new Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies.  Before adhering together, I used the large flower stamp to make beautiful floral images on the white panel in Flirty Flamingo, Pineapple Punch, and Grapefruit Grove.  I stamped a few leaves in Granny Apple Green.  I wrapped some Baker’s Twine around the white panel twice and tied a bow.  I then adhered the white panel onto the Coastal Cabana, and then onto the white card base.

Healing Hugs - 2 - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

Then I stamped the sentiment in Coastal Cabana on a scrap piece of white and cut out with the Stitched Shape Framelits Dies.  I just LOVE the beautiful images achieved with the Distinktive stamp sets!

Healing Hugs - Close Up - Up North Stampin' - Mary Hanson

I added some sequins to ‘bling’ it up, and it was done!  Easy Peasy! Click on the product list below to SHOP WITH ME!!  Yay!

So happy this stamp set will be sticking around in the new Annual Catalog, going LIVE on June 3.  My customers will be receiving a catalog from me free!  But if you don’t have a regular demonstrator, I’d love to get a catalog in your hands – just let me know, and I’d be happy to send you one, no charge!

Wednesday is May Day – Are You Ready to Go Back in Time?

In a couple of days, it will be the first of May.  In some parts of the world, May Day is a traditional spring holiday, a day that signals rebirth and new beginnings.

Unfortunately, May Basket Day is a tradition that has become lost over time. Back in simpler times, people rang in the first of May with a particularly charming and delightful tradition. People would take all the flowers they gathered at the end of April’s showers, arrange them in a homemade basket, along with small gifts and candies, and then hang them on the doors of friends and neighbors as a means of friendship and welcoming them into warmer weather.

may basket old 2

It was also a way for young love to blossom. Boys would hang baskets on the doorknobs of girls they liked. They would knock on the door and quickly run away. If the girl caught the boy leaving the basket, she would chase him down in an effort to steal a kiss. Girls hung baskets on their favorite beau’s door, too.  I love the nostalgic look of these vintage images, don’t you?

May basket old 3

I made some May Baskets in the traditional cone shape today — a great way to use some retiring Designer Series Paper and ribbon!  I used the beautiful All My Love Designer Series Paper – soft pinks and Soft Sea Foam accents….yum!

May Basket 1 - Daisy Lane - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

The template I used for the cone pattern can be found HERE!  It’s easy to trace and cut once you print a master template!

I used Tear and Tape from Stampin’ Up! to attached the cone together.  The Daisy is from the new Daisy Lane Stamp Set, coming out in June in the annual catalog — it goes with our existing Daisy Punch!  Love it!  I thought I’d give you a sneak peek!  Our current Daisy Delight Stamp Set works perfectly.  I punched the double daisies after stamping with Flirty Flamingo and added some punched leaves in Soft Sea Foam cardstock.  (Do you like my wine glass holder?  haha)

May Basket 2 - Mary hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

I challenge you to make some fun May baskets with your kids — or for your own friends –and then celebrate a holiday that may be lost from our history forever!

May Day Basket 3 - Daisy Lane - Leaf Punch - All my Love Designer Series Paper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

Happy May Day!!

Hope you’re having a GREAT weekend!  In just four days, on May 1st, Stampin’ Up! is unveiling a brand new suite of products – “Everything is Rosy,” and oh my goodness, I am IN LOVE.  If you sometimes wonder what to order that goes with other products, this is a great way to get a set of products that ALL go together – no guesswork!  The suite is a UNIT PRICE — the products will not be sold ala carte.  Wait until you see the beautiful samples at the end of this post!

It’s incredible.

As demos, we usually get a chance to order a little earlier in order to prepare samples; however, as this isn’t a ‘kit’ but instead a full suite of products, we are going to get access to it at the same time as everyone. So seriously, order on May 1st if you can, I can’t see this hanging around.

So here’s the list of what you get. If you start adding up everything you get, you’ll see the value is definitely there for the price.  It’s amazing!
