Pals April Blog Hop: Flowers!

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is Flowers in the Garden. We hope you are inspired by all the wonderful creations the Pals share with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we love reading your comments. Then, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

It’s been awhile since I had taken out this beautiful stamp set, Artistically Inked, and the coordinating dies, the Artistic Dies. Honestly, I’d forgotten how beautiful the floral images are in this set! Here is my project:

This fun fold is called a Flying Seagull because of the way the two side flaps looks like wings. The instructions can be found on various websites, but I saw it on Susan Campfield’s site. These are the measurements I used:

  • TWO – Basic White card base card bases, each cut at 4 1/4″ by 8 1/4″, scored at 2 1/4″, 4″, and 6 1/4″. TWO of them!
  • Basic Gray cardstock for the front panel: 4 1/4″ by 4 1/4″
  • Gray Granite cardstock for the front panel: 4 1/8″ by 4 1/8″
  • Basic White cardstock panel for the front panel: 4″ by 4″ — this is the panel I stamped on.
  • Two outside side panels: TWO panels of Fancy Flora DSP cut at 2″ by 4″, and two panels of Basic Gray at 2 1/8″ by 4 1/8″
  • Smaller inside panels: Two Textured Shimmer paper panels at 1 1/2″ by 4 1/8″ (I didn’t use a second layer of cardstock here)

This fun fold is called a Flying Seagull because of the way the two side flaps looks like wings. The instructions can be found on various websites, but I saw it on Susan Campfield’s site.

The steps:

I stamped floral images in Daffodil Delight, and leaves in Gray Granite, most of the images stamped off once, on the 4 x 4″ white panel and added diecut flowers as well, and then ran the panel through the Cut and Emboss Machine with the Subtle embossing folder. I heat embossed the sentiment onto a small rectangle of Basic Gray cardstock, and then arranged the flowers and the sentiment on the square panel, adding a bow of white baker’s twine and Adhesive Flat Pearls.

THEN – the only tricky part is attaching the two card bases together – after that, it’s easy! First, fold both card bases like this:

Then, (above) take the two white pieces, scored, and butt them against each other. Those two folded panels, butted against each other become the base for the front square panel. When they are attached correctly, they will look like this:

  • Adhere the front square panel with your floral design using tape adhesive. Adhere the cardstock and DSP panels on each side, like this:

Finish off the card with Adhesive Flat Pearls for embellishments, and White Baker’s Twine, as you desire. This stamp set and coordinating bundle are not like anything in the catalog, and the best news is that they are carrying over into the new Annual Catalog, available on May 2 for your shopping pleasure!

I made another card without dies on the front panel, using Soft Seafoam and Calypso Coral. I love these fun colors!

I hope you enjoyed these projects, and this awesome fun fold. You HAVE to try one! All the products above can be found below. Just click on one to start shopping with me!

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team; The Pals are very excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on May 10th, when our theme will be a Tic Tac Toe challenge, where our Design Team will create projects, using elements/supplies that are three in a row, column, or diagonal from the tic tac toe board. Until then, have fun in your craft space.
