A Sneak Peek of a new Annual Catalog Product!

I had a chance to play with the beautiful new Designer Series Paper from the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, orderable in May. This paper, called Hues of Happiness, is going to be super popular…such pretty color combinations! Here are two cards I just made:

Aren’t the colors so pretty? Wait until you see the rest of the papers! Here is a sneak peek of the entire suite, called the Happiness Abounds Bundle, along with the Hues of Happiness Designer Papers I mentioned above.

For these projects, I used only the papers from the product suite. Card 1 Details:

I used a Basic White card base of 8 1/2 by 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4″. I adhered a panel of Hues of Happiness paper of 5 1/2″ by 4 1/4″ to the white card base. There are different shades in lovely color combinations!

I then cut out a number of flowers directly from the DSP using the coordinating dies. I love when I can stamp and cut my own, OR cut beautiful flowers right from the papers — so easy!

I used a tag from the Tailor Made Tags Dies on which to stamp a sweet sentiment. I then adhered two lovely flowers onto the tag. I then used some of the new 1/8″ In-Color Metallic Woven Ribbon to decorate the tag.

The second card was created in the same way, just a different color combination. So fun!

The Annual Catalog products will go LIVE in May. I already can’t wait! BUT don’t forget about the wonderful Tailor Made Tags Dies — they are about to retire, and they are a staple in any papercrafting room, believe me! Click below to start shopping with me!

Pals April Blog Hop: Flowers!

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is Fabulous Flowers. We really hope that you will be inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you โ€œhopโ€ along from Pal to Pal.

Although it’s been a SLOW and cold spring, tulips can be often be seen peeking up through the snow, especially against buildings where the sun is warm. I used the beautiful Flowering Tulips Bundle to create today’s project:

This layout is called the Criss Cross Pocket Card, a design I learned from Lisa Curcio at Lisa’s Stamp Studio. Although this is not a new fun fold, it was new to me! The insert is a fun single panel card that you can stamp, decorate, and then write on. For this insert, I stamped, then adhered the front panel to the back, and then ran through the Cut and Emboss machine with one of the dies from the Flowering Tulips Dies. I punched out some of the small squares, but not all, to create some interest.

Here are the instructions:

  • BASE:
    • Blackberry Bliss: cut TWO @ 4 1/4″ x 11โ€, score at 5 1/2″
    • Cut one side of each panel on a diagonal from the top corner to the middle score at the bottom.
    • Make sure the second sheet is cut so that it’s FACING the other diagonal. (See below)
    • Adhere the two panels together so you have two ‘wings.’ Do not glue the wings down until you’ve added the DSP (next step).
  • OUTSIDE:
    • Designer Series Paper: 4โ€ x 5 1/4″, cut on diagonal in half. If you are using a sheet of DSP that has a vertical design, watch how you cut the paper so that diagonals are the correct direction for the pattern.
    • Adhere these diagonal cuts to the fronts (two wings) of the card base.
    • Use a strong adhesive to glue or tape down the wings at the bottom of each wing in order to make an envelope.
  • INSERT:
    • Basic White: 3 5/8โ€ x 5โ€
    • Highland Heather: 3 3/4″ x 5 1/8โ€
Cut one 11 x 4 1/4″ panel from top corner to score line. Cut the other panel the opposite way.

A couple of things that I learned: When adhering the two criss-cross panels, use something strong, like Tear N Tape, and use it on the bottom of the two diagonal sides, not the center of the base. You can adhere either side down first, depending on which DSP you want to show more. For example, I wanted the patterned side to show more in the photo below, so it’s adhered on top of the solid DSP side.

Once the basic card is created, you can decorate the outside. I chose to create two tulips using Blackberry Bliss and Highland Heather with leaves and stems of Evening Evergreen. The sentiment is from the Flowering Tulips stamp set, stamped in Blackberry Bliss. I added a couple of iridescent sequins and a double bow of white baker’s twine to finish it off.

I had so much fun making this Criss-Cross card design, I made another one, with the tulips coming from the other direction, and a different color combination. They’re tons of fun to make!

In fact, once you get started, it’s hard to stop!

I hope you enjoyed my project today! More inspiration awaits! Use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what theyโ€™ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on May 11. Our theme will be New 2022-2024 In Colors, with the Pals showcasing the brand new In Colors in the new Annual Catalog.

Until then, enjoy the Spring and all the flowers you love!

Speaking of bonuses, the Scalloped Contours Dies included in this bundle have floral shapes that coordinate perfectly with the stamps. But I think the biggest bonus of all are the scalloped border dies. Iโ€™ve used these dies for tags, labels, card fronts, scrapbookingโ€”honestly, itโ€™s my go-to for everything. These dies are the secret ingredient to elevating any card, tag, label, and scrapbook page.

I love the cheerful, all-occasion sentiments and versatile line art images.

A Spring/Easter Table Favor AND BIG SALE at Stampin’ Up!

Easter is fast approaching, so I found a cute table favor that goes so well with our beautiful papers, especially the soon-to-be-retired Pansy Patch. The favors take very little supplies, and are so cute — don’t they look like Easter Bunny ears?

I got the design for this cute little treat favor from Libby Fens of libbystamps.com. https://libbystamps.com/2018/03/24/hippity-hoppy-easter-favor/. Here are the measurements from Libby:

  • Bunny is a strip of designer series paper, 1 x 12. Score at 2, 5 1/4, 6 3/4 and 10. Nugget wrap is 1 x 3.
  • Use Tear & Tape on the ends, folding in, towards the center on the ends.
  • The two center score lines, fold towards each other.
  • On one of the ends, doesnโ€™t matter which one, where the edge is adhered, apply another strip ofย Tear & Tape.
  • Stand bunny up, and adhere two ears together.
  • Wrap nugget and insert in bunny base.
  • Decorate: I used the Pansy Petals DSP, and a sentiment from the Springtime Friends stamp set. I used the Small Bloom Punch to punch out the little flowers, and then I ran them through with my Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I tied with various colors of Baker’s Twine.

Here’s what the back looks like — see the cute little Hershey’s nugget?

Any Easter or Spring sentiment is perfect, and any of the Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers are great.

Thanks to Libby Fens for this adorable design! Just click below to get this beautiful Designer Series Paper set before it retires!

Pansies for Spring AND BIG SALE at Stampin’ Up!

These adorable Pansies are perfect for Spring, and I think here in Northern Minnesota, we’re ALL feeling the need for some color and warmth! Take a look at these three cards for three different kinds of papercrafters!

Pansy Patch Step-by-Step
Thank You Card (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) (10.8 x 14 cm)
CASUAL
As one of the sentiments in the Pansy Patch Stamp Set says, โ€œThe little things you do make a big difference.โ€ That can be true in lifeโ€”and when sitting down to create a fabulous card for someone special. All the little details and love put into making your card can add up to one big hug that will make someoneโ€™s day!
To begin creating our lovely Besten Dank Pansy Patch step-ups, start simple. Fold Polished Pink Cardstock in half; add a layer of stamped Basic White Cardstock to the card front, then layer with just a few die-cut images. Notice that our artist used a Blending Brush to add subtle shading to the die-cut pansy bud. Easy to do. Fast. Fun!
AVID
We stepped up our Thank You card with tone-on-tone stamping and pops of gold for extra pizzazz. We also used a Bone Folder to curl the flower petals and give them extra dimension.
ARTFULLY AVID
To create our Mille mercis card, apply Granny Apple Green ink to the Basic White Cardstock layer using a Blending Brush, then run it through the Stampinโ€™ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. Also, did you notice the pretty Bakerโ€™s Twine? We colored it with Flirty Flamingo Stampinโ€™ Blends to make it really stand out!
