April Pals Blog Hop: Masculine Cards!

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month’s theme is “Male Room.” The Pals hope to inspire you with their masculine card ideas and paper craft creations using Stampin’ Up! products. Links to the participant’s blogs can be found at the end of each post to help you “hop” along!

Here is my masculine birthday card, a fun fold pop up card. It looks like this on the outside:

And then opens up to this:

The bottom flap of the card folds up and under the top ‘cap’ in order to close the card, and when you open it, the sentiments ‘pops up!’ Thanks to Sunny Day Stamping for the pop-up card layout. It’s really fun to make, and the possibilities are endless! Here are the measurements and materials needed:

  • Basic Black:
    • Card Base: 3 ¾” x 9 ¾”
    • Score at 5 ¼”
    • Top ‘Cap’ of the card: 4 ¼” x 2 ½”, score at 1 ¼”
    • I also used a rectangle of B. Black for the white-embossed sentiment on the inside
  • Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper:
    • Front Panel: 3 ½” x 4 ¼”
    • Front Strip for ‘cap’: 4” x 1”
    • Panel for the back of the inside of card: 3 1/4 x 4 3/4″
  • Gray Granite:
    • Pop-Up Insert: 3 ½” x 9 ¼”, score at 5”
  • Ribbon or Baker’s Twine: 24”

The Beautiful Gallery DSP contains so many gorgeous designs, many of which can be used for more masculine-feel projects. The pattern I used is one such design, with Basic Black, Gray Granite, and Slate Gray hues. Start by folding the card base up at the score mark so the shorter end is on top, and the fold of the card is toward you.

Adhere the front panel of DSP to the front of the card. Adhere the DSP strip to the front of the Basic Black cap piece. Fold the cap piece over the top of the card base. Adhere the cap to the back of the card base so it will cover the top of the card.

Take the inside Gray Granite piece, fold at the score, and make your slits as specified here:

  • With folded edge at top, cut a ¾” slit at 1 ½” and 2”
  • Score at base of slit, and then ‘pop out’ to make a little square You will create a popped-up square on which you will adhere your popped-up sentiment. Please see the green dotted square below:

Stamp the sentiment toward the bottom of the panel, and then adhere the Gray Granite inside panel to the card base by lining up both score lines.

Create your popped-up element, whether it be a sentiment panel like mine, a stamped diecut, or whatever shape you want to pop up! Adhere the back of the pop-up piece to the little square pop-up and make sure it all folds properly. Add some bling to the front of the card as desired.

Tie a length of baker’s twine around the top so the card will stay closed when you tuck the bottom half of the card under the cap. You are done!

Besides the products found at the bottom of this page, note that I used some products that will be available to everyone on May 6, both online and in the new Annual Catalog:

  • Layered Thoughts Stamp Set
  • Beautiful Gallery 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Papers
  • Pressed Flower Motifs

I can’t wait for you to be able to see all the beautiful new products. This DSP is so gorgeous! And if you are a customer of mine, you should be receiving your new annual catalog in the mail soon!

We have more inspiration to share, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. Don’t miss out next month as we create for the “Flowers in Bloom” theme. Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Hooray for the New In-Colors!

They’re here, and they’re beautiful! The new 2025-2027 In-Colors! I thought we could take a more in-depth look at them, along with some comparisons of other SU! colors so you can start choosing your faves for the new catalog order.

Here are the five colors — what are your first impressions? Well, take a look below for some comparisons and color combos!

Let’s look at each of them! First, we have Cloud Cover, a very pretty and soft grey/green with a hint of blue.

Here are a couple of color combos using Cloud Cover:

Next, we have a return by popular demand: Strawberry Slush, which retired in 2015, and is now back again. Many crafts loved this pretty pink-red. I can already imagine that this might be one of my favorites!

Here are some color combinations using this pretty color!

Next up is Darling Duckling, a beautiful alternative to our Daffodil Delight or Crushed Curry!

Check out some color combos using Darling Duckling!

Next up: Secret Sea! Is it a shade of black? Blue? Green? You decide!

Here are more combinations with this intriguing color:

Finally, Timid Tiger! A sweet, more mellow shade of orange:

THERE YOU GO! NOW, what do you think? Have you chosen a favorite yet! Please comment in this blog — I can’t wait to hear what you have to say!

My OnStage Swap Card!

I had so much fun at the OnStage Stampin’ Up! convention in Raleigh, North Carolina! Out of the many highlights of the weekend, the chance to swap cards with so many talented papercrafters was right there at the top! I made 50 cards of the design below, and of course, brought back 50 beautiful cards to stare at in awe! Here’s my card:

I started with a card base of Basic White Thick cardstock, cut at 8 1/2″ by 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. I then cut another 1 1/8″ off of the front of the card. I cut a 1″ by 5 3/8″ strip of DSP and adhered on the inside of the card at the right edge. I then took a panel of Basic White cardstock cut at 5 3/8″ by 3″ and ran it through the Cut n Emboss machine with the Exposed Brick Embossing Folder. I adhered that to the front flap of the card base.

I used the Textured Notes Dies to cut out three panels:

  • 2 3/4″ by 4 1/4″ in Pretty Peacock
  • 3 3/4 by 2 1/4″ in Wild Wheat
  • 2 1/4″ by 3/4″ in Basic White

I love the way each rectangle etches a different border pattern around the paper panels. These dies are fantastic!

I stamped the flower from the Spotlight on Nature stamp set, and a sentiment on the white panel. I also stamped a corner sentiment in the Wild Wheat panel. The Spring Corners stamp set is just delightful for adding some ‘corner’ variety to your cards – so cute! After adhering the Wild Wheat panel to the Pretty Peacock panel, I adhered them to the front of the card, but only put Stamp n Seal on one part of the panel, and then putting the panels over the edge of the front, like below:

I then adhered the sentiment panel, and put a double bow underneath the left side, using the Lost Lagoon Soft Cording.

I hope you liked my project. The card swaps were SO fun, and I got rewards with such beautiful cards to admire. It was so fun to make 50 of these, pack them up, and head to OnStage!

All the products are current now, and you can just click on the product below to start shopping with me. But hurry — many of the products will retire with the annual catalog, including the beautiful Wild Wheat In Color, so get them now!

Happy Cake Day! Pals Monthly Blog Hop: Birthdays!

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month’s theme is “Birthday Celebrations.” The Pals hope to inspire you with card ideas and paper craft creations using Stampin’ Up! products. Links to the participants’ blogs can be found at the end of each post to help you “hop” along!

My card was made with the beautiful suite of products called the Wildflower Birthday Suite Collection. The designer series papers not only have gold-foiled images, pretty checks and stripes, and fun birthday patterns, but include birthday and floral patterned cut-outs. The stamp set has some great birthday sentiments, and the dies include numbers and fun banners elements as well. All in all, the whole suite sings, “Happy Birthday to You!” Here is my project:

I used the ‘faultline’ technique to create visual interest on the card front. I started with one of the card bases from the Stripes and Florals Mix & Match Cards & Envelopes, a nice soft pink textured card base. I then cut two panels of DSP from the Wildflower Birthday DSP at 3″ x 5 1/4.” I tore down the long side of each of the DSP panels to create torn edges while keeping the outside edges square. I then cut a 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of the Ombre Glimmer paper.

I then adhered the glimmer paper down the center of the card front, and then fit the two pieces of torn DSP, one on each side, to the card base. I took a gold foil banner from the punch-out images, and draped that across the corner of the card, trimming each side of the banner to fit the card.

I cut a circle die in Vellum cardstock from the Spotlight on Nature dies. I adhered that to the bottom center of the card. I then used a pre-cut cake from the DSP and popped it up on the card over the vellum circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals, along with a small floral bunch.

I used the Textured Notes dies and two stamps from the Wildflower Birthday stamp set to stamp a “Happy” and a “Day” with Blueberry Bushel ink. I stamped each word on a rectangle die, and then cut the rectangles so each would tuck into the back of the cake. I wanted the cake image to actually be a PART of my sentiment — Happy Cake Day — get it? I then use Stampin’ Dimensionals and slid the sentiments in back of the cake.

I finished the card with a couple of Adhesive Heart Sequins. I used some matching DSP to decorate the flap of my envelope as well. I hope you enjoy my project. You can shop for all of these beautiful birthday card supplies by clicking on any of the products toward the end of this post.

We have more inspiration to share, so use the lineup below to visit each team member’s page for fresh ideas, unique styles, and endless inspiration. And get ready—next month, we’re designing for “The Male Room” theme, where we’ll be making cards for the men in our lives.

Until then, have fun in your craft space.
