Welcome to the Pals monthly blog hop. We’re so glad you’re here! January is all about making “Art from the Heart,” featuring projects for Valentines Day, Thinking of You, Get Well, or Sympathy. You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I’ve had a couple of precious dogs over the last 25 years, both of whom lived for over 15 years, including Daisy the Springer Spaniel!

We dog lovers agree that pets are family members. The new “Happy Tails” stamp set and punch bundle from Stampin’ Up is so cute, and can be used in so many ways! A new puppy? A friendship card? And we know there are times when a friend’s dog is sick or dies. This stamp set can say all the right words FROM THE HEART, even when they’re hard to express.

The inspiration for my card came from Regina Andari from the UK. I started with a Whisper White Thick cardstock base and then added a panel of Early Espresso at 4″ by 5 1/4″, torn at the bottom. The next layer is Coastal Cabana, measured at 3 1/2″ X 4 1/2″ and torn at the bottom as well. I used Coastal Cabana ink to stamp some full strength pawprints all over the paper, and then I ran the panel through the Big Shot using the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I love the tweedy texture it adds!

I stamped the dog stamp onto Whisper White cardstock with Early Espresso ink. I used the Coastal Cabana ink to stamp the little collar on his neck, and then added some small Basic Rhinestone Jewels to it. I then punched the dog stamped design out using the Dog Punch, brand new from the 2019 Occasions Catalog. So quick and so cute!

The next layer comes from a panel of Wooden Textures Designer Series Paper. I cut a strip 2 1/2″ x 4″ and tore the bottom again. Using White Embossing Powder and Versamark, I heat embossed the sentiment from the Happy Tails stamp set.

Take a look at all the sweet sentiments in this stamp set!

I wrapped some Silver and Pool Party Baker’s Twine around the wooden textures panel and tied a bow. Then I mounted that onto the Coastal Cabana panel. I adhered the stamped and punched dog onto the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and then added a punched-out heart from the Myths and Magic Glimmer paper. The Happy Tails Bundle is SO fun to work with, and so versatile for all the dog lovers in your life! See the product list below to shop for all of these awesome products in my online store.

And now, to a new card with some brand new Designer Series Paper!

Thanks to Patty Bennett, awesome award-winning papercrafter, for this fun Creative Fold design. I made this project my own by using some new Designer Series Paper from the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration catalogs, AS WELL AS these beautiful butterflies! Here’s the card:

You start with a 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ panel of cardstock for the base, scored and folded at 4 1/4″. Cut two pieces of Happiness Blooms DSP — one 4″ by 3″, and one 4″ by 2″. Score them both at 1/2″ on the shorter side, not the 4″ side. Fold the paper at the 1/2″ score, and then adhere the small fold down. An easy trick, and now you have cute panels of a complimentary design. Here’s the Happiness Blooms DSP. Don’t you love the bright colors? A shot of energy and cheer in the gloom of winter!

Adhere both panels of DSP down onto the card base. Either panel can go on the top or bottom, depending on your preference. The space in the middle is ready for your sentiment and an embellishment or diecut object.

I chose two of the beautiful designs from the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series papers, and punched them out with the Butterfly Duet Punch. I sprayed the two butterflies with a mixture of rubbing alcohol and a few drops of Frost White Shimmer Paint. So easy, and people will marvel at your beautiful artistry! 🙂

Here’s that beautiful Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper, FREE with a $50 purchase from either the Occasions or the Annual Catalog. It adds SO MUCH versatility to the punch and stamp set!

Pop those two butterflies up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and then stamp a sentiment in the middle. I used one from the beautiful stamp set called “Kindness and Compassion.” Don’t you just love the fonts? This set is a ‘must have!’

Cling Stamps Are Here!

Recently, I received a new stamp set from the Occasions catalog, and I have to tell you — I LOVE the new Cling Stamps! What are they? Well, Stampin’ Up!’s red rubber stamps are now better than ever! The same quality rubber material you’ve always loved now comes with an adhesive image label that will cling like crazy to clear blocks (AC p. 206) or Stamparatus plates (AC p. 207) every time you use them.

Labeling cling stamps is a slightly different process than you may be used to. It is important to follow the steps below to assemble cling stamps. Each cling stamp case will also include labeling instructions.

Note: Once you place the label on the stamp, it is adhered permanently. Attempting to remove or adjust the label will damage the stamp’s foam.

Remove the paper backing from the label.
Remove your selected stamp from the rubber sheet and remove the paper backing from the stamp.
Line up the foam side of the stamp with the image label, then press it evenly to adhere it to the label. Make sure it is correctly positioned before you adhere it to the stamp.
Remove the stamp and its newly-affixed image label from the label sheet.
Place the stamp on an acrylic block to begin stamping.

Best Practices

To remove the stamp from the block, grasp securely near the image label and remove slowly. (Cling stamps stick so well that if they are not carefully removed from the block, the foam can tear.) To clean the labels, simply rinse under running water. Avoid alcohol-based cleaners.
