Lots of Lavender Sneak Peek

Just a few more days until the SU! Occasions Catalog goes live (January 3), and Sale-B-Bration begins!  Here is a sneak peek at a new Sale-A-Bration set called Lots of Lavender, and yes, the best part about this set is that it is FREE with a $50 purchase!

Lots of Lavender 2 - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

I used an embossing folder on a 5 1/4″ by 4″ panel to create wavy texture as a backdrop for my lavender bouquet.  On a 2 1/8″ by 4 1/4″ panel, I stamped the lavender bouquet in Basic Grey ink.  I then started using the two-step stamping process to ‘color’ in the flowers with Wisteria Wonder, the ribbon with So Saffron, and the leaves with Pear Pizzazz.  I used a Paper Pumpkin sentiment for the large Thanks across the bottom.  The two-step stamping makes it so fun and easy to get a watercolor feel to the  bouquet!

A Merry “Cuppa” in Traditional Christmas Colors!

I LOVE the Merry Cafe Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!  And I especially love the way it coordinates with the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies and the Coffee Cafe stamp set.  There are so many ways you can use these three products!

Merry Cafe - Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

I mounted a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock on a card base of Thick Whisper White.  On a smaller Whisper White Panel, I used the Winder Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with my Big Shot to add that cute snowflake pattern.  Again with my trusty Big Shot, I cut out the holly leaves and coffee cup from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper. I used Real Red Glimmer Paper to cut out a few small berries.  So cute!

I stamped the sentiment “Christmas Cheer” with Real Red and Garden Green, and then cut out using the framelits dies.  Finally, I stamped some yummy whipped cream with Crumb Cake ink and a cute straw with Graden Green ink and cut them out with the Big Shot.

Close Up 1 Merry Cafe - Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

I jazzed up the whipping cream with some Wink of Stella, and assembled the entire card!  Love it!  Check out the Retiring List on the Stampin’ Up! website — both the Merry Cafe and the Winter Wonder embossing folder are retiring soon!  Get them now — they’ll be classics you can use year after year!

Christmas Pines & Merry Little Christmas!

I’ve made a simple yet elegant card using the Christmas Pines stamp set with the coordinating Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies.

Christmas Pines - Stitched Shapes Framelits - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

I started with a base of Whisper White thick cardstock and then a layer of Old Olive Cardstock on top of that.  The Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Papers are so versatile.  I love the black and white plaid look with the Old Olive — very trendy!  I created a shiny gold foil pinecone to go with the delicate olive green pine boughs.

The sentiment was stamped on an oval cut out from the Stitched Shape framelits and backed with a black scalloped layer from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies.  I accented the card with an Old Olive Mini Chevron ribbon.

I love the simplicity of this card.  I hope you do, too!

Merry Patterns for a Merry Christmas!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I don’t remember a busier November/December! School, craft fairs, and spruce container production has really taken a chunk out of me. But I’ve finally gotten a chance to do some creating.  And wow, have I had some fun!
Merry Patterns - Half Full - Foil Snowflakes - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin

This first card is heat embossed with gold embossing powder and the fun deer from the Merry Patterns stamp set.  I have loved this set from the moment it became available as a special promotion by Stampin’ Up!  Since it never appeared in any catalog, I expect this set to become a collector’s item.  I’ve seen so many special projects using it!

Here’s another version of the card, using a different paper.  Same idea and layout, but an entirely different look, don’t you think?  The leaf is from the November Paper Pumpkin kit, and is perfect to match the Old Olive in the DSP

Merry Patterns 2 - Half Full - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

The gold embossing really adds a rich touch, don’t you think?  The sentiment is from the “Half Full” stamp set, which I really love as well!  Let me know which one you like the best!

Merry Patterns and One Regal Deer!

I knew I wanted the Merry Patterns stamp set the moment I saw it.  I love every single stamp, and the versatility the entire stamp provides.  You can go with the deer thing, you can go with the candle thing, you can use the beautiful big sentiment….or any combination thereof!

Merry Patterns - Merry Little Christmas DSP - Up North Stampin' - Mary Hanson

This card is built on a Basic Black card base with a layer from the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Papers.  LOVE the Old Olive and Black combination!  The reindeer is heat embossed in gold, and the sentiment is heat embossed in white on Basic Black card stock. I added some gold mini sequin trim and Metallic Enamel Shapes to add a little bling.

Festive Phrases - Half Full - Stampin' Up! - Spooky Night - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampinup

Here is my Halloween card — a toast to some very mysterious Halloween punch!  The background panels of the card were created with Basic Black card stock and pieces of the Spooky Night Designer Series paper.  I love every design of this Halloween variety pack!

Spooky night paper

I combined two stamp sets to create this fun Halloween card.  Festive Phrases is a new stamp set from the SU! Holiday Catalog.  With its variety of sentiments, it’ll be fun all year long!

Festive Phrases

I stamped the ‘Potion’ stamp on a Very Vanilla piece of card stock and then cut it out using the Stitched Shape Framelits.  I added the wine glasses by stamping them in Basic Black and cutting them out myself.  I watercolored the Mystery Liquid with Lemon Lime Twist ink, and then sparkled it up a bit with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  The bubbles were made with the new Black Rhinestone Jewels — fun, fun!

Tic Tac Toe Challenge Half Full #tttc016

Having fun this week with a Tic Tac Toe Challenge from my fellow Stampin’ Pals.  We could pick three items in a line, either horizontally, diagonally, or vertically, just like Tic Tac Toe!

TTTCI chose to go right down the center with Glow, Paper Piece, and Doily!  I used one of my favorite sets from the 2017 Holiday Catalog — “Half Full,” a very fun holiday set that could actually be used all year long.  It’s a great set of wine images, with a Christmas angle.  I love the sentiments “I’m dreaming of a White Christmas…but if the white runs out, I’ll take red.”  Haha love this!

I also used the holiday Designer Series Paper called Merry Little Christmas to accent the Cherry Cobbler card base.  Love the black and white with the Cobbler!

Half Full - Merry Little Christmas - Up North Stampin' - Mary Hanson

You might be wondering where the GLOW part is on the card — the top square of our challenge.  Well, it’s difficult to photograph, but the white ‘wine’ in the glasses is accented with Wink of Stella, as are the fun holly images.  They glow and sparkle — really fun!
