Home to Roost:

I finally got a chance to play with one of the FREE Sale-A-Bration stamp sets called “Home to Roost.”  This set can be used for all kinds of occasions.  I chose to take the country route with a woodgrain background and a tin tile embossing effect.

Home to Roost -- Wood Textures Designer Series Paper - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

Here are the stamps featured in this stamp set:

Rooster

For my card, I simply used some Tranquil Tide ink to stamp the grass stamp a couple of times right onto the wood.

I then stamped the rooster on Whisper White Shimmery Card Stock.  I cut it out with the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  Then I used an aqua painter to ‘gather’ ink from the following ink pads and ‘watercolor’ the rooster:  Tranquil Tide, Pumpkin pie, Night of Navy, and Poppy Parade.  I LOVED blending the inks and playing with the colors.  There is NO right or wrong way to color Mr. Rooster!

Home to Roost - Close Up - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' - Stampin' Up!

I used a strip of silver foil paper and embossing it with the Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder, adding it to the woodgrain DSP.  I love this folder!   I then popped up the rooster circle and added a bow of Braided Ribbon Trim (I shredded the ends!) and a single Frosted Epoxy Droplet.

I added a sentiment from the stamp set, and this card was done.  It came together really fast, and SUCH fun to experiment with the coloring of the rooster!
