Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here because it’s “Time to Sale-A-Brate!” We’re showcasing our favorite new products from 2020 Sale-A-Bration brochure. You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
Because I haven’t yet received a stamp set from the gorgeous Sale-A-Bration brochure, today I am featuring my favorite products from the Spring Mini Catalog instead — the Painted Poppies Bundle. For my card, I wanted to recreate a field of poppies against a background of green, kind of like this painting I found:
Needless to say, here’s my project:
I started with a basic Whisper White Thick card base folded to 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″, a panel of Old Olive at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, and a panel of Shimmery White cardstock measured at 5 1/4 x 4″.
On the Shimmery White panel, I created a color-washed background using my Aqua Painter and some Old Olive ink. To do this, I wet the paper with the aqua painter, and liberally spread ink back and forth until I achieved a wash of green. I let this dry for awhile.
I then stamped a number of leaves onto the background of washed color in Old Olive. Next I stamped a variety of poppies on some Whisper White scraps, using Petal Pink, Poppy Parade (love that color!) and Grapefruit Grove. The two-step stamps make beautiful poppies, and don’t worry about lining up the stamps directly over each other — they’re not perfectly aligned. Experiment with ‘stamping off’ sometimes, to create varied flower hues. I stamped some leaves in Old Olive ink on Whisper White as well.
Here’s the beautiful stamp set and dies from the new Spring Occasions Catalog:
I then did some die cutting. I cut out all the poppies, both styles, the leaves, and also a decorative border from the dies in Old Olive cardstock. To put it all together, I simply built a bouquet on top of the washed background, popping some poppies up using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To make the sentiment, I stamped one of the lovely sayings from the Peaceful Moments Cling Stamp Set in Old Olive ink. I used the Timeless Label Punch to punch out the sentiment, trimming the top and bottom edges slightly, and then using Dimensionals to adhere to the card. I love every one of the sentiments in this set!
To add the finishing touches, I used some Baker’s Twine and (retired) Old Olive ribbon tied together in a bow. (I do have new ribbon on my wish list!) I added some pretty sequins, and done! The list of all the wonderful products I used for this project are found at the bottom of this post.
More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Don’t forget to show us some love by commenting on our creations. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 12th, for our Art From The Heart blog hop when our Design Team showcase projects made from the heart for any occasion. Don’t miss the fun!
