Creating Texture through Designer Papers

Today I continue my exploration of a beautiful new Suite Collection called “Texture Chic.” These full panel cards are so easy to create, and the Designer Series Papers do all the work:

The card above uses a full panel of the Texture Chic Designer Series Paper, adhered to an A2 Basic White card base. I used some Champagne (retired) foil and gold foil sheets to cut out some fall leaf shapes from the diecuts. I then cut out one latticed diecut from the opposite side of one of the designer papers to created a textured background. The sentiment piece is from the Beautiful Shapes dies, inked in _______.

The card above starts with a Crumb Cake A2 card base. I then took a panel of the Texture Chic Designer Series Paper at 4″ by 5 1/4″. l used a Stitched Rectangle die for the sentiment piece, and used Mint Macaron ink. I just love these fonts! I cut out some snowflakes in some glimmer papers I already had to add a sparkly effect.

Here are the beautiful Designer Papers! One side of each page is adorns with gold foil accents.

It’s truly up to you as far as what you want to do with this collection. You can keep the cards simple and clean, or you can layer to your heart’s content. Everything is coordinated — the products are beautiful, the paper is just gorgeous. The supplies to create them are found below!

Deckled Rectangles Dies – These are Game Changers!

The new Stampin’ Up! July-June Annual Catalog has some awesome new products, the Deckled Rectangles are among my favorites. These rectangle-shaped dies create the very popular look of torn edges, but they’re much easier than tearing your paper. The dies do the work for you! Today I’ve created five cards using the same layout and the new Rings of Love Designer Series Papers that are FREE in the Sale-A-Bration Brochure in July/August with a purchase of $50! Thanks for Fellow Stampin’ Pal Su Mohr, Stamper Extraordinaire, for the layout. Here they are:

Here are the measurements:

Card Base: 8 1/2 x 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″
Next: Use the second largest Deckled Die to cut the 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ strip of DSP, and then cut one more time through the Cut & Emboss Machine to make it narrow, about 1 1/4″.
Next Layer: 4″ by 2 1/2″ Deckled Die of a different pattern of DSP
1 3/4″ x 3 1/8″ Deckled Die for white smaller layer — stamped and then run through with a dry embossing folder.
Sentiment is stamped and cut out with the Charming Sentiments Bundle
Iridescent Rhinestones for an embellishment

Introducing Four Seasons of Chic!

The Texture Chic Suite Collection is just that — a mix of beautiful products that integrate textures, seasonal stamps, gorgeous foils, and pretty sayings. I created four seasonal cards using this fun suite.

Thanks to Kimberly Wynne Jones for the design idea! Here are the basic measurements for my four cards:

Card Base of cardstock is 8 1/2″ by 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
2 pieces Designer Series Paper at 1″ by 4″
2 pieces Designer Series Paper at 1″ by 3″
1 piece of Designer Series Paper for the center at 1 7/8″ by 3 1/8″.
Suggestion: Put your outside frame down first, and when you have your strips down, take a ruler and measure the rectangle. The dimensions may vary because of how you have adhered your strips.

I used some Shimmer Vellum in Soft Succulent to cut out the hashed background piece. Doesn’t it add a nice element of texture? The sentiment panel was created with a die from the Scalloped Contours Dies. I used the same sentiment from the Season of Chic stamp set for all four cards.

I used some retired glimmer paper for some of the snowflakes to add some extra sparkle, alongn with some gold foil snowflakes.

The seashells above are made from the Champagne Foils, also retired. I love the rose hues and the shine! Here are the gorgeous Designer Papers! See all the different seasons represented? And the beautiful gold foil accents?

The Season of chic bundle is full of beautiful abstract seasonal shapes and dies, and will be a keeper for all year long!

Celebrate World Watercolor Month at Up North Stampin’!

Well, now you know! I basically love any reason to celebrate a holiday! Stampin’ Up! has SO many ways that you can use watercoloring techniques to create beautiful projects. Here is a fabulous video that shows you SEVEN techniques for watercoloring! The presenter gives you the colors of ink she’s using, as well as the supplies needed for each of the seven techniques. I learned so much watching this great video!

Introducing the Textured Chic Suite Collection

The Texture Chic Suite Collection is just that — a mix of beautiful products that integrate textures, seasonal stamps, gorgeous foils, and pretty sayings — very chic!! I started out playing with these products by creating some simple cards based on a diagonal cut that shows off the beautiful Designer Series Papers. Here they are:

The card above starts with a Crumb Cake A2 card base. I then took a panel of the Texture Chic Designer Series Paper at 4″ by 5 1/4″. Make sure the design on the opposite side of the patterned paper coordinates the way you want it to. I cut the panel using my Paper Trimmer at a diagonal angle — it doesn’t matter where you cut — your choice. I flipped one side of the DSP, and adhered both designs to the card front with a small gap in between them.

For each card, I also cut a panel of a very cool criss-cross patterned background die — this one using a pattern of the DSP. In others, I used a piece of retired Shimmer Vellum. All three cards today use sentiments from the Texture Chic Stamp set — beautiful messages with cool dual fonts!

The above card uses a tag from the Tailor Made Tags Dies. All of the post’s cards are adorned with different sheets of foil, including the retired Champagne Foil, Gold Foil, and Bronze Foils — they add such a pretty shine and elegance to any project!

The card above uses two of the hexagon dies from the Beautiful Shapes dies, one on top of the other!

I’m “Full of Love” for this Stamp Set!

There’s a cute new stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog called “Full of Love.” In this card, the stamp set is combined with a new single die called “Spots and Dots” for a sweet effect:

This card starts with a card base in Crumb Cake cardstock. The diecut panel that serves as the next layer is cut with the Spots and Dots Die. The fun strips of patterned papers are from the Happy Forest Friends Designer Series papers. Choose your favorite patterns and cut in strips with diagonals at one end.

The Full of Love stamp set has simple and cute images like the one in this card. You can choose Watercolor Pencils, Stampin’ Blends, or whatever you’d like to color in your cute little envelope image, and then cut out with a scissors. Here’s the stamp set.

The “Hello There” sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder onto Basic Black cardstock and then cut out into two separate words. Love this effect! Add a double bow of White Baker’s Twine, and you have a super sweet card to send anyone who needs a handcrafted hug in the mail!

These Hedgehogs! <3

I knew I had to have the Happy Hedgehogs Bundle the moment I saw it in the Stampin’ Up! Catalog. These little guys just make me so….well, happy! I created a card with a cute and woodsy background that was so easy!

You smiled, didn’t you? Here are some materials I used to build the card with measurements:

Calypso Coral Card Base @ 5 1/2″ by 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Mossy Meadow cardstock panel is next, measured at 5 1/4″ by 4″
Happy Forest Friends DSP panel, cut at 5 1/8″ by 3 7/8″ is next. Notice the cute, cute woodsy background!

Here are the cute Designer Papers!

Next, I stamped two hedgehogs in Early Espresso onto Crumb Cake cardstock. I then punched out the larger one, and fussy cut the smaller little guy. I adhered them to the bottom part of the card, one with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Next, I heat embossed a sentiment from the Colors and Contour stamp set in white embossing powder onto a Calypso Coral scrap of cardstock. I punched it out with the Tailored Tag Punch. This I popped up on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a couple of Fun Flowers Resin Shape Embellishments, and I was done! Here is the Happy Hedgehogs bundle, which can be purchased at 10% off when bought together!

I hope you enjoyed these fun hedgehogs. I truly had so much fun making this card. Sometimes, it’s all about the fun of it! The supplies to create them are found below!
