September Pal’s Blog Hop – My Favorite Season!

2018-September 12 BadgeWelcome to the Pals September 2018 Blog Hop. The 2018 Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up! is out and the Pals are excited! Sit back while we share creations from “Our Favorite Holiday.”

You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

First Frost Clear Mount Bundle - Colorful Seasons - Abstract Impressions - Joyous Noel 6 x 6 Glimmer Paper - Wood Textures Designer Series Paper - Shimmer Paint - Mary Hanson - Up

My card reflects the love I have for my favorite season:  Fall!  Living in Northern Minnesota, I love watching the leaves change and the colors turn to rich oranges, yellows, and burgundies.  I also love the First Frost bundle, so I thought there MUST be a way to combine my love of Autumn with this beautiful stamp set and dies to create a lovely fall bouquet.

My card started with a card base of Crumb Cake.  I added a panel of Country Lane Designer Series Paper (the one with the wood grain) measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″.  I then took my new Frost White Shimmer Paint (fresh from the Holiday Catalog) and put a dime-sized amount on a clear acrylic block.  I then stamped the leaf-shaped stamp from Colorful Seasons into the shimmer paint on the block, making sure it was coated evenly.  Then I stamped some leaf patterns onto the wood-grained paper.  It’s beautiful and shimmery in person!  There is also a new Rich Copper Shimmer Paint that I don’t have yet — think how beautiful that would be on this fall card!  Try it out!

Next, I stamped some flowers from the First Frost stamp set onto Thick Whisper White card stock.  You can build any bouquet you’d using the fall colors of your choice!  I used Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, and Cajun Craze.  I cut the flowers out using the First Frost dies.  From there, I stamped the sentiment from Abstract impressions in Chocolate Chip ink onto a scrap of wood-grained paper from the Wood Textures DSP.  Then I cut some little branches from both the copper and merlot Joyous Noel 6 by 6″ Glimmer Paper.  Finally, I started building my bouquet, using Stampin’ Dimensionals and SNAIL Adhesive.  So fun, and you can do whatever you want to!

Have you seen the best new pick up tool for paper crafters?

Take Your Pick tool

Pick-up tools provide a tacky tip for ease in picking up sequins, rhinestones, pearls and small punch pieces. But now there’s a new, better pick-up tool on the market, thanks to Stampin’ Up! In addition to the tacky tip found in competitors products, the Stampin’ Up! pick up tool also has interchangeable accessories. The new “Take Your Pick” tool is available in the new Holiday Catalog!

Accessories include a dual-ended stylus tool. Use the larger tip for scoring designer paper and the smaller tip for scoring cardstock. Works great with the Simply Scored and with rulers. The other interchangeable tip includes a paper piercing tool for adding faux stitch marks to your projects or as a precision tip to pick up self-adhesive embellishments. Flip it over and the small spatula will allow you to dislodge misplaced Dimensionals, loosen adhered cardstock and so much more!

the best part – it’s only $10 and that includes the tool, accessories and a refill tip. Additional tip refills are available in a 2-pack for just $3.50.

This pick-up tool isn’t just for paper crafters. Quilters can use it to pick up the stray ends of thread or small buttons. Artists can use the pick-up tool’s spatula accessory for a myriad of tasks as well.  Wrap a few up this Christmas as stocking stuffers. The new “Take Your Pick” tool is now available!

Going Down the Country Lane Again!

This Country Lane Suite from the new 2018 Holiday Catalog is just scrumptious.  ORDERING BEGINS ON SEPTEMBER 5!  ARE YOU READY?  YAY!  The beautiful blends of Mint Macaron, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White are so on trend.  And look at the cotton elements — LOVE!

Country Lane - Mint Macaron - Chicken Wire Elements - First Frost - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

I started with a card base of Mint Macaron and added a 2-inch strip of the Country Lane Designer Series Paper in the cotton plant design.  I adore this!  Under that, I adhered a small strip of the wood grain design from the same collection of papers.

I stamped the pitcher and bouquet onto the largest of the oval Stitched Shaped Framelits.  I then used my Cajun Craze and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends, along with my Aqua Painter (for the Mint Macaron) to color in some of the bouquet elements.  I used Smoky Slate blends for the pitcher.

I cut out a section of the very cool Chicken Wire Elements and mounted behind the oval.  The Mint Macaron bow is the Nature’s Twine set, which I LOVE!  Don’t you find it so easy that Stampin’ Up! coordinates EVERYTHING?

Close Up 2 - Country Lane - Mint Macaron - Chicken Wire Elements - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

The sentiment is from the First Frost stamp set, and punched with the Triple Banner Punch, then popped up with some Dimensionals.  And DONE!  I love everything about this card!

Yesterday I posted a different project using the Country Lane Suite.  Here’s the link for more info on that Project.  Click Here!

A Country Lane at Harvest Time: Sneak Peek!

It’s wonderful to see the harvest starting all around the countryside.  I love this time of year in many ways!  This card reflects the beauty of the Harvest Season using some great new products from the 2018 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.  Make sure to let me know if you don’t have yours yet!  I will get you one right away!  ORDERING BEGINS ON SEPTEMBER 5!

Country Home - Galvanized Metallic Paper - Tin Tile Dynamic Textured impressions Embossing Folder - Stampin' Up! - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin' .jpeg

The Country Lane suite includes a milk can and pitcher upon which you can stamp two different bouquets.  It’s perfect for coloring, whether you want to try your Stampin’ Blends, markers, or watercolor pencils.  The Designer Series Papers compliment the soft fall colors beautifully.

I used a card base of Blackberry Bliss, and took a strip of the brand new Galvanized Metal Paper and ran it through the Big Shot using the new Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder — a big title for a wonderful product!  You’ll LOVE the way it looks like a piece of vintage tin tile.  Super cool!

I stamped the milk can and bouquet images using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a rectangle of Thick Whisper White card stock — this can be any size you’d like.  I backed that with a rectangle of Old Olive card stock that was 1/4″ larger than the white panel.  I used the Stampin’ Blends to create a bouquet — this is where you can have so much fun!  Use your Color Imagination to create all kinds of combinations!

Close Up Country Home - Tin Tile Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Mary Hanson - Up North Stampin'

The sentiment is a simple rectangle of Whisper White cardstock stamped in Blackberry Bliss.  I finished off with a bow of Linen Thread (two strands), and some Clear Epoxy Droplets!  A fun card, and I just loved the coloring process!

Sign up for the Holiday Designer Paper Shares – Pay a little and get ’em all!

If you’ve noticed the all-new Designer Series Papers in the 2018 Holiday Catalog, you’re probably trying to decide which ones will find their way to your craft table.  To be honest, it’s difficult to appreciate the full beauty of these double-sided papers from their small photos in the catalog.  For instance, did you know the Joyous Noel DSP has copper foil accents?

Or that the Frosted Floral DSP is shimmery?  GORGEOUS!

OR that the Santa’s Workshop papers have white fuzzy flocking on them?  SO cute!

Screen Shot 2018-08-16 at 11.22.30 AM

I’ve decided to do a Paper Share of the fabulous new papers from the Holiday Catalog.  It’s a great way for you to see the papers in person, try them out, and order more of what you want!

New Designer Series Paper Share – $16.00 plus $4.00 for First Class Mail shipping!

You will receive one 6×6 sheet of each design from the following DSP packs as well as four Foil Edged Cards & Envelopes (the number behind the name indicates how many 6×6 sheets of that paper pack you will receive):

  • All Is Bright – 6 sheets
  • Festive Farmhouse – 6 sheets
  • Santa’s Workshop Specialty – 6 sheets
  • Joyous Noel Specialty – 6 sheets
  • Joyous Noel 6″x 6″ Glimmer Paper – 3 (one of each color)
  • Frosted Floral Specialty – 6 sheets
  • Country Lane – 6 sheets
  • Galvanized Metallic Paper – 1 sheet
  • Toil & Trouble – 6 sheet
  • Black Foil Sheets – 1 sheet
  • Gold Foil Edged Cards & Envelopes – 2 sheets
  • Silver Foil Edged Cards & Envelopes – 2 sheets

In all, you’ll receive 47 – 6” x 6” sheets of designer or specialty paper and four cards & envelopes!

Double DSP Share – $32.00 + $6 Shipping by Priority Mail – if you’d like double shares of the designer paper, that’s fine too.  I’ll cut the designer paper sheets into 6×12 so that you’ll be able to get 3 full A2 size card fronts from each sheet (except for the Joyous Noel 6×6 Glimmer Paper, you’ll get double sheets of those since they’re already precut).

Anyone is welcome to join in my share (please note, I can only ship to addresses within the US).  If you’d like to join, email the following information to marya2hanson@gmail.com.

  • Your first and last name
